Adorable, sweet, funny. The perfect Christmas special. I missed Hamill though.

    "Gobots killed his cousin" :guffaw:

I liked parts of it, but didn't like other parts very much. Knowhere in Christmas mode looked really cool, Cosmo is fun and I guess we're at the "late teens/early 20s" stage with Groot now. I also like the idea of the Guardians using Knowhere as their base.

The Go-bots are now officially part of the MCU. Can't wait for their movie.

    Sickbay, dammit.
Wife and I dug it, even though I accidentally spoiled Mantis' big reveal.

It was pretty good. But it had a... "Cheap looking" made-for-TV quality to it. The way it looked, the costumes and creature effects. Maybe that was intentional to track with a made-for-TV special but it didn't "sit right" with me. I mean, that didn't look like Knowhere to me.

    But, still, pretty fun.

It was better than I expected, but I was surprised each time Mantis got angry and hollered. I didn't expect that from her. Also the Groot suit was a little off. But all in all it was fun.

The Groot Suit was horrible, but I'm guessing it was "part of the joke" in trying to ape The Star Wars Holiday Special.

There is no "Groot suit". He was fully CGI, just as he usually is. He looks different because he's older than the last time we saw him.

It looked bulky and fake to me.

Maybe so, but it was still CG.

"Well, YA Groot, or Swoll Groot, as we call him, is getting bigger, outward as well as upward. As you can see by now he has a different, stockier physiology (and a more outgoing personality) than his father did." "Swoll Groot is 100% computer generated thanks to the fine folks at Framestore and Weta Digital."

Fine. Whatever. It still looked terrible (really most of the costuming and make-up did) which I assume was the intent and "part of the joke" of this type of Christmas special. (Like the SW: Holiday Special and Santa Claus vs. The Martians.)

I dont think the cgi is really movie quality. Not sure if thats intentional, or just a stylistic choice. When Mantis was jumping around Kevin Bacons house, or even when she and Drax were jumping or falling, and the police car flipping over--all those scenes were not even up to CW quality.

I'm assuming because it was a side thing it didn't have the same CG budget as the movie.

That's what I thought when I watched it--but upon reflection, there was just too much iffy stuff there that I can't believe Disney would release it like that unless it was intentional.

I have a question--was there a reference to Capt. Jack Ross in the show? I seem to recall him being mentioned and thinking it was a continuity error, but when I went back to try to find the scene today I couldn't--so I'm thinking I must have dreamt it.

I didn't even know this was a thing until about an hour ago. Loved every minute of it.

I feel like "I'm going to get you, Bacon!" should be a meme or something.

Also, Mantis in the City needs to be a thing.

That’s funny since in the comics, Drax does look like Kratos a bit. I don’t know why a middle age woman would know who that was.

I was expecting a EE Mobile joke with Kevin Bacon.

This was without a doubt one of the happiest and gleefull things to happen in the MCU in quite a while.

Yes, it was silly and over the top. Yes, it was coated with sugar and spice and everything nice. Yes, it had a reveal that would fit quite well into any Hallmark yucky yuckyuck movie. Oddly enough, all of that works absolutely fine in the GotG setting.

PLUS....... IT'S A FRIGGIN' CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY FEEL GOOD CHEERS SPECIAL!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D It does everything it's supposed to do. I am 101% certain to rewatch this on either Christmas eve or Christmas morning and feel as good and yes.... a little teary eyed. Also, wonderfull little end credit scene.
