The Good In Every Episode...

All STAR TREK series have had their share of clunkers. And everyone has a different list of what they consider bad episodes. There are, of course, some that are universally reviled. But even those can have something positive about them.

So here is a challenge...

Every episode each of you consider a bad one, I want you to find something positive about it.

I want to do this for every series, but I figured I would start with VOYAGER, since I just happened to see the thread with skippable episodes.

I will begin.

"THE FIGHT" - I never cared for this episode. And even though he seemed out of place in the holodeck simulation, it was always a pleasure seeing Boothby. The other positive thing I can say about this episode is, despite the clunkiness of how it was done, it was an interesting concept of those Chaotic Space aliens and how they communicated, as well as Chaotic Space itself being an interesting concept.

Resolutions (I might get flak for that one, but I hate the monkey and the whole ep seems like a tease with no real resolution)

The good? There seemed to be some honest-to-goodness attempt at creating chemistry between Janeway and Chakotay. And I did like the scenes pitting Tuvok's logic against (some of) the rest of the crew displaying genuine concern for the Captain and XO. Plus the Vidiians are interesting imho.

"Day of Honor" was more than a little cliche-ridden, but I thought the interaction between Paris and Seven was genuinely heartwarming.

"Resolutions" frustrated the daylights out of me, because resolution was the one thing it didn't have. But it was nice to see the command team in civvies and in a less formal setting, and we did get a bit of Janeway backstory. And I liked Harry's audacity, even if it was more than a bit insubordinate.

"Unforgettable" was pretty awful, but I liked the way Neelix supported Chakotay, especially at the end. Every once in a while, Neelix earns his self-claimed "Morale Officer" title.

 

[Catarina]

Elogium- The lines written for the bridge scenes were enjoyable. Liked the exterior shots and the glowing red in the ready room windows. Our command team discussing real implications of being stranded in terms of interpersonal relationships.

Fury-- I admit I liked the show down with Janeway and Kes but still, *thumbs down*

Author, Author--- The crew in blue. It's fun to see things out of the ordinary.

The Good Sheppard-- the special affects and Janeway "What the hell is wrong with you." I like the trio but it came too late in the series, IMO.

Unforgettable--- I say ditto to the Neelix/Chakotay scene.

I already mentioned what I liked about Cathexis

Heroes and Demons-- Freya

I can't think of the other ones I said

 

[Farscape One]

"SPIRIT FOLK" - This was never a favorite of mine. The one good thing I like is the tomfoolery (pun intended) of Kim's kiss. Those little moments peppered throughout the series are what helps make characters seem real, and everyone can appreciate a good prank now and again.

"Fury" has the really badass scenes of Kes storming down the corridor with it exploding behind her.

Hmm, for me I had trouble not seeing Lein on a treadmill with a green screen.

Yes, this scene was great.

Also a nod to Robert Duncan Mcneil...his facial expression when Seven says that B'elanna is dead was great

You have previously mentioned that a big thing you didn't like was that she appeared older. What if the same episode took place but she still lookes the same way she did in The Gift?

My list of skippable episodes....and the good in them

Heroes and demons - the Doctor's connection to the viking lady
Cathexis - the medicine wheel looked interesting

Elogium - TUVOK: It appears we have lost our sex appeal, Captain.

Non sequitor - seeing what Libby looks like, and tom and Harry's friendship

Parturition - the foodfight was funny

Tattoo - getting some backstory on chakotay

Cold fire - kes gettinf a thrill from burning all the plants

Sacred Ground - Janeway's devotion to helping a member of her crew

Warlord - Belannas additions to the resort

Favorite son - belanna calling harry spot, their friendship was cute

Unforgettable - seeing someone writing something by hand in trek is alwaya interesting

The Fight - the concept of chaotic space was interesting

Good shepherd - rhe bajoran girl was adorable

False Profits: the ferengi left with no profit.

Favorite son: Harry actually looked good with spots.

Latent Image: love the book quote at the end

11:59- The group get together was fun. Enjoyed hearing about the other's ancestors.

Virtuoso- Janeway says 'I don't remember giving you permission to use my first name.'

Fury- the explosions as she tears through the ship were well done.

Unimatrix Zero part 2- Tom telling Chakotay he learned from the best on how to challenge his Captain.

Lineage- seeing a 3D image of a child in utero is great technology.

Author Author- seeing all the doctors working away underground made me laugh.

Renaissance Man- Janeway and the doctor in the shuttle was ok. (I'm sorry but this was a real reach for me)

Endgame- Captain Janeway aged very well and I did like the graveyard scene.

I liked that scene too

Virtuoso---UGH add that to my list. But on the positive, I liked the scene where she handled their condescension in an amusing way and the eye roll that followed.

It wouldn't change anything for me.

It would still be Kes being destroyed, turned into an evil, crazy maniac with the intention to destroy the ship and kill the crew for no reason at all and then at the end becoming a pathetic wreck with the crazy, unrealistic intention to go back to a place were she didn't want to live.
