Spoilers The game changing Voq theory

I think it is being reported pretty much everywhere. I don't mind spoiler tagging stuff, but at the same time, if one has made their way to this corner of the internet, they likely have seen pretty much everything there is to see.
and it's clear the discovery staff is having fun about it, hence the twitter, i'm sure once they realized people were making the connection (even if it proves to be misdirection).

I think Tyler is Voq, although it's hard to imagine how they could create such perfect human-klingon spy both mentally and physically. He could at least try to bite the neck of Michael or something (since Klingon courting is more "physical"). Tyler:"Sorry, I meant it as romantic gentle bite in the neck. Love you so much, I want to eat you. Humans do that right?" Michael:"Gentle? I need to go to sick bay now....Wait... why do you refer to us as humans? Aren't you..ohhhh, myyy - in Sulu's voice-".

For those wondering why Tyler is too perfect. I have 2 words: "Brain transplant". You first heard it here.

Since Tyler is too perfect as a human, it's still possible he's not Voq. Isn't it possible Voq only died because of casting change? After the pilot the Star Trek production parted way with the actress doing the security chief and choose for this role the guy who was doing the Klingon Voq. Voq is a lot of make up and time and the actor was not available anymore for that role (beside maybe for the final and a few odd episodes). L'Rell took over most of the role Voq would have had.

Another theory. Tyler is Voq but it's also possible Lorca is double crossing him. Maybe he has his doubt about him being a Klingon spy from the beginning or maybe he did a bit further down the road. Armed with this knowledge, he decided to keep the enemy close (name/keep him security officer) and monitor him (maybe sending false info to the Klingon).

A lot of theories and speculation.

Perhaps his ganglia have temporal properties and knew this wasn't a threat because they would be around by the end anyway.

Or because Mudd was just screwing around, the threat from Mudd's point of view wasn't real, and thus didn't register as a predatory action or "death approaches".

If it is a prey reactionary/evolutionary system, it would seem to respond not to visual threats, but to predatory intent. A rock about to fall on him should not cause a reaction. A Klingon plotting to open fire will. Mudd being Mudd, probably won't cause a reaction....because its Mudd.

What about all the times Mudd shot Lorca in front of the bridge crew, including Saru? That almost certainly should have caused a reaction from his ganglia.

Should have, but didn't. This means that either Saru's ganglia are not as sensitive as they are suppose to be, or they are not triggered like we would suspect. Or that Mudd is not actually a predator and thus won't trigger a reaction from Saru

I'm not usually big on doing to much of the shows work for them, but I think the easiest way to explain this, is he isn't perfect and doesn't catch :: edit :: everything.

At this point if the producers want to surprise us they have to show that tyler is not voq (showing both in the same scene)

More likely to be a soul transplant. Trek has always portrayed these things weirdly, especially in episodes like Warlord, where knowledge seems to be carried with the soul. Voq's soul just wasn't activated before Tyler and Lorca (unexpectedly) escaped.
It would tie-in to the whole Vulcan Katra thing which was central to the plot in two episodes. It would also be a parallel for Tyler and Burnham to both have fragments of a soul.

Don’t forget, the danger doesn’t need to be in Saru’s presence. They came out in previous episodes when Burnham wasnt around or could not be seen.

So like the sentient turbolift doors that know not to open when its not dramatic enough or people are in the middle of a conversation... and sentient internal com system that knows to patch you directly to engineering if you simply say 'Geordi' sternly enough (but not when you say in private, 'Geordi! He's really getting on my nerves.'), Saru's probably-also-sentient threat-fingers know exactly when to sprout when it is pertinent to the plot or adds some drama.

The sight of the prison transport shuttle warping away from Discovery triggered his ganglia. Seems odd that such a relatively benign sight registered as the coming of death but a psycho on the bridge killing the captain and disintegrating other officers doesn't.

Or Mudd's time loop technology interfered with Saru's threat ganglia responses and the temporal field present aboard Discovery during each attempt prevented him from sensing danger until it was too late.

If Voq is not Tyler, and we do see him again, I still don't think he'll be the Voq we last saw, having had to "sacrifice everything," whatever that ends up meaning.
