Spoilers The game changing Voq theory

I've only seen Shazad Latif on Toast of London (very funny show by the way) but the more I listen to Vow speak and look at his mannerisms I'm 95% certain that it is him under all that make up. It's pretty weird that the producers would go for an actor like iqbal who only has one credit to his name for such a demanding role. Having seen Javid Iqbal's work on 'Guilty: The Webseries' I don't think he'd have the range to pull off a Klingon.

I also think Voq and Tyler are the same.

Voq seems to be quite an important character, so why should they cast a complete unknown actor for such a role who doesn't even have a Wikipedia site? That IMDb site means nothing. There are hardly any information on it and everyone could have put it there. This isn't a cheap series where they might settle on an unknown because of budget reasons. Voq is also not particular young, so it is not like they had to cast a teenage actor with little experience.

I think Javid Iqbal is just a fake name. He never played Voq and there was always Shazad Latif under the make up. For this also speaks that Javid Iqbal sounds very similar to Javed Iqbal, a Pakistani philosopher and high judge who died in October 2015. Maybe they wanted to honor him and at the same time hint to Shazad Latif as he has a Pakistani background.

It's an interesting theory with compelling circumstantial evidence. I like it. It would certainly liven up what has up to now been a rather lackluster Klingon arc and would be a unique twist with the potential for lots of thought provoking developments about where his loyalties lie or how our characters come to view him and by extension the Klingons.

Mind you, I assume implanted memories and other handwavium will be involved since Voq thinks touching warp plasma is an unholy taboo.

It's pretty much impossible to keep any secrets regardless of the tv series. I mean, the theories about Jon Snow's true parentage had been going around since season 1 and turned out to be correct.

Javid Iqbal is a real actor his only credit 'Guilty: the webseries' is real with like two seasons worth of episodes, you can check it out here: www.guiltythewebseries.com. I got a screenshot of him as well going by his performance in the webseries and his build and voice he is definitely not Voq. Here's a picture of Javid Iqbal:

To be fair, Jon Snow's heritage was because it was telegraphed in the books and fans have been studying it religiously for awhile.

I actually think this INCREASES my interest rather than diminishes it.

I think this is really just a coincidence. There are a lot of Facebook accounts with the name. Who knows how many more people have it. Whatever realistic sounding fake name they would have chosen there was bound to be a few persons with that name.

Or they will switch actors when he becomes a new person.

Voq isn't long in the show according to his casting either.

He could also be a friend of one of the writers or something and they are just using his name

Maybe. If the theory is right we will get the answer sooner or later. The name could have also been just randomly chosen, although I find it unlikely.

According to IMDB Javid Iqbal was in 'Guilty: the webseries' playing 'Javid'. I went to their site, found the episode he was in and I think this is him as the character is called Javid.

According to IMDb that’s not the Javid Iqbal that supposedly portrays Voq in DIS.

It would also lead to an inevitable moment where Michael, who will probably befriend him, has to decide whether to kill him or not and will thus make up for her executing T'kuvma.
She might do more than befriend him. If they become lovers it would add to the drama especially as he ate Georgiou.

Voq, like all religious fundamentalist wackjobs (I used to be one before I became a hippie theistic wackjob), loses his revulsion the moment it gets him laid and will probably blame it on her somehow.
