The Funniest Movie

I'll probably get blitzed for this, but... The Last Action Hero.

I laughed all the way through it (watch the people coming out of the police station, and the bit about Stallone's best movie), and Ahnolt's comedy timing is pretty good (took acting lessons from Lucille Ball - not many people know that).

Oh yeah I recall being in tears for both Jackass movies, though I'm not sure if I could really count them as "movies" ;)

I love this movie! I think it's one of those one's that is now accepted though it was derided when it was released ( like The Thing for example)
Great line : Arnold: "Wanna be a farmer? Here's a couple of achers!" <kicks cop in the balls>

A Fish Called Wanda was hysterical. "You're the vulgarian YOU FUCK!"

I loved Knocked Up. That one had me laughing all the way through.

I could watch Best in Show every day, and still be laughing. Pure comic brilliance.

Where's the love for Animal House? Caddyshack? Unbelievably hilarious. Let's show proper respect for the classics, shall we?

But for me, the funniest movie I've ever seen was Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Holy crap when we saw that in the theaters my face hurt from laughing so much. We must have missed 25% of the movie laughing over the next line.

"OKLAHOMA! OKLAHOMA! OKLAHOMA! OKLAHOMA! OKLAHOMA! OKLAHOMA!"

Just typing that made me laugh again....

:techman:

40-year-old Virgin is the only time I remember laughing out loud all the way through a movie. I prefer comedy television.

Producers - 1968 version with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel.

Anyone that can watch that without a good laugh doesn't deserve to be human.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Animal House

I used to like the Love and Death, Annie Hall, etc. Woody Allen era, but I haven't seen those in so long, I wonder if they would still be funny to me - probably would.

Unfortunately, I find that most comedy these days is just moronic. I don't mind some flat out stupidity and absurdity. Certainly, my two favorites have a lot of that! But the American Pie type movies and most of what has come after it just don't make me laugh. Ace Ventura funny? Please...Carrey's an overacting hack - like they said in the outtakes from Liar, Liar - probably the only Carrey film I could stomach. And I haven't seen anyone stand up for Austin Powers, but I'll say it anyway - some of the worst dreck I've ever seen - couldn't even stand to watch the entire first one and wouldn't even venture near the sequels. Was there only one, or were there more?

(Wow - I finally made captain! It only took 8 years.)

Young Frankenstein has to be right at the top of my list. A&C meet Frankenstein I would also put right there. Now that I am older and catch all the double entendre its even funnier.

The Hangover was the first movies in years that had me laughing so hard I was crying the whole way through.

Oh, god, let's see.

A Fish Called Wanda- "It's K-K-K-Ken, coming to k-k-k-k-kill me!"

Airplane

Spaceballs(actually had to stop the movie over and over we were laughing so hard)

Holy Grail

and a couple oldies-

Topper

Paint Your Wagon

The Producers

Young Frankenstein

What's Up Doc? -funniest chase scene ever, IMO.

edit: God forgive me, I didn't mention Blazing Saddles. "Whea ah all da white women?"

Lots of people have already mentioned comedy films that made me laugh. My choices include:

Airplane! (for me the silliest, funniest movie of them all)
This Is Spinal Tap
Monty Python's Life of Brian
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Monty Python's Meaning of Life
A Fish Called Wanda
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles
Clerks
Ghostbusters
Coming To America
Carry On Up The Khyber
A Shot In The Dark
Local Hero ("I'm still here, Happer....!" :guffaw:)
Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz
O Brother, Where Art Thou?

The most recent film that made me laugh was probably "The Simpsons Movie" - probably the only time I laughed nearly non-stop in the cinema (then again, it's probably the only comedy film I've ever seen in the cinema).

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Thank you! I'm so glad someone else agrees with me on this one. The movie elevates profanity to its highest comic art form.

"Women don't like being called 'bitch.'"
"Oh. How about 'boo-boo-kitty-fuck'?"

"I am the commander of the C.L.I.T.!"

"...the gayest idea since Greedo shooting first."

"Just for the record, he really loves the cock."

Jason Biggs: "Don't you recognize me?! I'm the pie fucker!!!"

"You're not upstaging me, Van Der Beek."

"George Lucas is gonna sue somebody."

my favourite part, and the part where i had to stop the video and go to the loo, i was laughing so hard was when SB is trying to sign about the name on the car that took the orang-utang.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
My favorite scene is where they track down all the kids who posted derogatory comments about them on the internet and beat the crap out of them.:guffaw:Beating up elementary school kids is so wrong that it just has to be funny.

nah, it's when they beat up the priest! :guffaw:

AND i LOVE the scene with Affleck and Damon ripping the piss out of their careers on the set of Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season.

and the gag line from that film: Apple Sauce, Bitch!

Oh yeah - almost also forgot Innerspace. Just a madcap surreal experience from start to finish. :bolian:

Most of the comedies I like tend to be animated films. Here are some movies that make me laugh:

The Emperor's New Groove
Toy Story 2
Bolt
Spaceballs
Muppet Treasure Island
