The Funniest Movie

What's your favorite funny movie? I'm not talking high-art I'm talking what movie made you laugh the loudest and the most often.

Recent comedies aren't really sticking in my mind right now so I'm going to have to go with what me laugh the most when I was younger:

ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS!

It's an incredibly stupid movie, but it's also the high point of Jim Carey as a comedian before he became a pretentious semi-dramatic actor. He just fills every moment with some kind of insane hilarity, the way he walks, the way he looks.

I know the funniest thing I've ever seen (back in the day) was a naked Jim Carey squeezing his way out of the plastic rectum of a rhino.

I can't even think of any truly hilarious movies from the past few years but I'm sure I'm just blanking out. Well, I laughed pretty hard at Borat.

I think When Nature Calls is one of the first times I was in a theater with tears running down my face and in incredible pain from the stitch in my side from laughing so much. The rhino bit and "three darts!?! That's too much!" made me wheeze.

My favourite Carrey film, though, is Liar, Liar. So I'll list that along with Monty Python's Holy Grail, Anchorman and 40 Year Old Virgin as great comedies off the top of my head. Anything Monty Python, really.

Yeah, Both Ace Ventura films are really stupid, but hilarious. All Carrey's old comedy work is gold. The Cable Guy is really underrated, it's a demented masterpiece.

I'll chime in further with

Ghostbusters
Annie Hall
Blazing Saddles

A Fish Called Wanda is all sorts of awesome!

Fletch, Vacation and Christmas Vacation, Big Trouble in Little China, and Airplane!
Never fail to crack me up.

Jackass: The Movie. Almost from the word go, I spent that whole movie in pain from laughing so hard so long.

Both Farrelly Brothers made movies: Dumb and Dumber and there's something about Mary had me laughing so hard

Pet Detective was a far superior movie than When Nature Calls at that point Ace Ventura was just a caricature

O Brother Where Art Thou?
Still Crazy
St Trinians (any of them)

There are a few others, when I think of them I'll get back to you.

Agreed!

Also, The Life Of Brian and The Hangover are totally hilarious.

On the other hand, I just can't bring myself to laugh whilst watching Jim Carrey being embarrassing.... or the bloke who played Austin Powers. Not. Funny.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It's vulgar in the extreme but it's also populated with such likable characters. Russell Brand is a revelation as the surprisingly earnest yet still totally moronic rock star Aldous Snow.
Sarah Marshall: "I hate your music."
Aldous Snow: "Yeah, well I fucked the housekeeper the other day."
Plus, any movie with a Dracula musical number is OK by me.

Hot Fuzz. It's a great comedy. It's also nearly impossible to describe why it's so funny. It's like a Swiss watch of comedy bits, with each one fitting perfectly into its context, creating a side-splitting whole.

The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard. I didn't expect to like this one. Instead, I loved it! My face hurt from laughing so hard for so long. Be warned, of all the movies on my list, this is probably the one that really requires you to have no moral scruples when it comes to comedy. The best part is the redheaded woman who wants to have sex with the overgrown 10-year-old boy. Also, "We have all just participated in a hate crime."

While the entire movie is kinda uneven, the single movie sequence I laughed the hardest at was the dolphin musical number at the beginning of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Thank you! I'm so glad someone else agrees with me on this one. The movie elevates profanity to its highest comic art form.

"Women don't like being called 'bitch.'"
"Oh. How about 'boo-boo-kitty-fuck'?"

"I am the commander of the C.L.I.T.!"

"...the gayest idea since Greedo shooting first."

"Just for the record, he really loves the cock."

Jason Biggs: "Don't you recognize me?! I'm the pie fucker!!!"

"You're not upstaging me, Van Der Beek."

"George Lucas is gonna sue somebody."

The most I ever laughed in a theater was while watching Shoot 'Em Up, we were all cracking up. We had the perfect audience for the movie I guess, because everyone seemed to get it.

I can't really narrow it down to one, so I'll list several:
This Is Spinal Tap
Clerks
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
CB4
Grandma's Boy
Anchorman
Step Brothers
A Fish Called Wanda
A Mighty Wind
Superbad

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
My favorite scene is where they track down all the kids who posted derogatory comments about them on the internet and beat the crap out of them.:guffaw:Beating up elementary school kids is so wrong that it just has to be funny.
