Spoilers The Flash - Season 4

They have a group of buddies with a spaceship.

A SPACESHIP! (that the Kilgore powers could possibly take over.)

Iris posting that article, made the near threat of DeVoe winning, part of the historical record.

Remember Thawn's awe of DeVoe from before the Accelerator explosion?

Remember how in the future there is no historical record of when the Flash is from (which is why Thawn had such difficulty figuring out how to kill Barry)?

The Thinkers brain wipe may be part of Thawn's "original" personal timeline.

That was the most painful episode to watch of the whole series. Amunet Black has been irritating in every appearance. I have been a big fan of Tom Cavanagh since his first tv series ED. But these Council of Wells scenes are ridiculous! It's just an excuse to have him do corny accents. Like a bad SNL skit. The show feels like a self parody. Going into outright Camp.

I have mostly enjoyed this season. It's very odd that there are only 2 more after this. Usually the last four episodes of the season really built up the drama. This was the type of show you would expect in the middle of the season.

This was the type of episode that almost makes me wish for lower episode counts. #BadFiller

I wouldn't call it filer per se given that it did advance some plot points (how do they stop DeVoe) but the problem was the filler within the episode.

Does also sound like Marlise has turned on DeVoe and messing things up as was predicted up thread.

Yeah, I know the council of Wells did advance the narrative but it still felt like bad filler to me because the scenes were slightly annoying and also because the purpose of the scenes were not immediately obvious. In the beginning, I found myself thinking why is the episode taking a break from the A plot to show me Tom Cavenaugh doing silly impersonations again?

also because the purpose of the scenes were not immediately obvious.

Isn't that kind of the goal of most story arcs? To avoid being too obvious about where they're heading?

In this case, though, the purpose seemed pretty clear to me -- to help Harry focus more on emotions rather than intellect and thus be able to gain a new insight into the problem, both his own personal problem and the larger DeVoe arc. Since the characters were asking "Why hasn't DeVoe advanced his plan yet?", it was pretty easy to guess that the answer they'd find was that Marlize had left him, and that's the sort of thing you'd need emotional intelligence to deduce.

I got that, just not right away. ;)

Hey
..just wondering. Are they any Flash Villains whose last name is Bell or Bivens...

Would love for them to team up, especially if Elongated man is saved and Diggle guest stars, and Joe says... "So we have Ralph and Johnny vs. Bell, Vic Decor!"

That bit at the beginning with Devoe sure felt like it was lifted right out of an episode of Legion!

I was reminded more of Arrow's trademark extended single-take fight scenes. Which is appropriate for an ARGUS/Diggle episode.

DeVoe has so many powers now that it's hard to remember which ones he's using. Was he wielding Black Bison's power to animate lifeless objects to move the dead soldiers' bodies around? I didn't think she could do that. But then, Null didn't know she could increase gravity, so...

Did I miss something? The revelation about Caitlin and Killer Frost at the end seems like Cisco and Caitlin are surprised that it was a metahuman not created via the particle accelerator accident. But didn't we learn (when Felicity and Ray visited back in season one ["All-Star Team Up"]) of the existence of non-particle accelerator-originated metas on E 1?

I realize that the idea that Caitlin is one is a surprise, but it seems like they are still surprised about other origin metas? I suppose those events could have been wiped out by the Legends or Barry.

The bizarre use of powers and the slow casual way Devoe moved through reminded me of the opening of Legion Chapter 10 with SK/Oliver/Lenny assaulting Division 3 which looked a lot like ARGUS. Throw in the musical piece as cherry on top. It didn't seem like typical Flash to me at least.

I don't think it is that Cisco is surprised at the existence of origin metas, it was just suprise that Caitlin is one since they had assumed that she had gotten her powers from the particle accelerator. I've seen speculation on youtube that Caitlin's dad is going to be revealed to be an ice based meta like Mr Freeze and that he could be the villain next season. Since we haven't seen the dad yet and now it is revealed that Caitlin is a meta from birth, it kinda makes sense that her dad might be a meta with ice powers and that is how she got her powers.

Yes, they've met one or two pre-accelerator metas, but their origins have remained mysterious. It's still an open question -- how could it happen? And these are scientists, so of course they're going to keep asking that question until they get an answer.

It was also similar to the scene in Sherlock where Moriarty robs the museum.

It seems odd to me that the episode focused on Caitlin suppressing something from her childhood and the mom whom she had major issues with never even came up.

I would not be surprised if next season deals with this issue. Maybe Caitlin's dad is a scientist who created metas years ago?
