Spoilers The Flash - Season 3

HR is pretty obviously going to be the key to the resolution. Whether he sacrificed himself and was actually Iris or he used some other kind of deception, I don't believe that this is the final fate of Iris.

Whatever's going on, HR is definitely involved...not only was there some hamhanded setup for it this episode, but there was also that bit when they vibed back to the future in an earlier episode, and Barry saw HR on a roof...that was never explained, was it?

Shitty plan to steal a dominator power source, VS. Going to Dominator Space/Going back in time to the invasion were there were hundreds of Dominator ships, all with identical batteries VS. Asking Supergirl for help, who has tech from hundreds of worlds at her finger tips VS. TAKE/BORROW THE POWER SOURCE FROM THE WAVERIDER WHICH IS JUST SITTING THERE IN THE BACKGROUND WHEN YOU PICKED UP SNART.

Or even better, run Iris to the Waverider and have Gideon heal her......

I had another thought: when Wells hears that Savatar is heading to Earth-2, why doesn't Wally immediately take Iris to another Earth to escape. Why in the world did they try to stand their ground and fight Savatar?

Another plothole is the connection between Barry's memories and Savitar's. If Barry does something that he didn't in the other timeline, why should Savitar remember that if he is a time remnant of the original timeline?

By the same logic, if Savitar is so connected to Iris, then Barry could simply NOT use time remnants to battle Savitar. And where is the Savitar that killed Iris in the first timeline? Isn't this a Savitar that already experienced life after he killed Iris?

If Barry can change Savitar's memories, then he can destroy Savitar by not creating him in the first place. If Barry cannot destroy Savitar that way (see Reverse Flash), then Savitar would exist whether he kills Iris or not.

Right, this is a Savitar that has already been trapped in the Speed Force, which didn't happen until 4 years after he killed Iris. The loop is making less and less sense the more it goes. We must be many iterations in at this point. I can't figure out how the time remnant becomes this Savitar, or how this Savitar could ever be caught in the future Speed Force trap. Its not really a loop anymore; its more like rewind, re-record, timelines overlaying on each other, but not really. ugh. i'm getting a head ache. So this savitar killed Iris before, before the Speed Force Trap, but is also going to kill her again now? Right? Sigh.

Wow! The negativity for this show is strong! I didn't realize that so many of you hated the Savitar storyline . . . or the show. It's not as if any of the other shows - "SHIELD" included - are better. Would some of you had preferred if the show had maintained it "light-hearted" style from the first season?

I think I'll stop posting on this thread before I end up losing my temper.

We're just coming up with theories and arguing over potential time travel logic. Sure, we'll occasionally gripe about some apparent character stupidity, but that doesn't necessarily mean we hate the show. As I pointed out recently, this is still my favorite Berlantiverse show.

Of course, I'm mostly withholding judgment on the season until I see the season finale. I maintain the right to call the writers idiots if I don't like their version of temporal mechanics. ;)

Again, why didn't they get the "Meta-Human Power Nullifier" tech from Argus? ;)

Right now, effing Legends of Tomorrow makes more sense, and that is one (wonderfully) braindead show.
A lot of shows shows are "better". Doesn't mean this isn't fun.

Stop trying to kick start another Marvel v DC discussion with the Shield comment.

IMO The Flash season 1 was simply amazing and potentially the best thing so far from the DCEU TV shows (Arrow S2 & S5 are up there too). Season 2 was on it's way to being a stronger season but the pay off come the season finale wasn't there. The finale was weaker than in S1 and the overall arc was left with a shaky foundation with some of the explanations from the writers not holding up that well. The negativity from the ending to S2 has carried over into S3 for sure but for me while I still enjoy the Flash its a shadow of the first 45 episodes. The Savitar plot has more holes in it than Swiss cheese and of course the finale could fix that but I am not holding my breath.

Season 4 needs a big shakeup in terms of the season big bad villian (no speedster please), less time travel, maybe even no overall arc for once played out over 23 episodes and cut the melodrama relationship stuff to a minimum.

I love The Flash. I consider it the best of the CW superhero shows. But when there are plot holes, I like to discuss them and try to understand them.

I think the above is very fair. Sometimes I go after writing because I don't like it. But in the Berlantiverse, I really do think the writers are terrific. But that doesn't put them beyond reasonable criticism, especially when dealing with time travel. It goes with the territory that their audience has seen many time travel stories before and are likely expert nitpickers. I actually think that writers should have people like us on staff, to complain at the script stage. They have the talent to plug plotholes.

Time travel plotholes are tough, but not impossible.

There should have been an in-show explanation why Flash didn't go to Kara for the power source, or bring Iris to ARGUS. "Savitar's super futuristic armor is ahead of anything ARGUS has, so even without speed, he would be a threat." That one line or something like it ends that problem.

"Earth 38 is being invaded by Daxamites and isn't currently in a position to help."--ends that plothole.

I thought this episode was a great ride, but I see the flaws in it. I still enjoyed it.

While I like season 3 well enough, yes. yes I would. It's rare these days to have a show that is optimistic and hopeful which, to me, is one of the things that set The Flash apart. He was a hero because it was the right thing to do, and he enjoyed it. It's why I liked Geoff Johns and Scott Kolins run on The Flash with Wally West.
