Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

I've gotten to a point that life's too short to waste a couple hours on something just to see if it's as crappy as everyone says it is.

Sometimes that can be fun. But this doesn't seem like it'd be one of those times.
If you haven't seen it, you may as well give in and give it a watch. It's not the movie we would have wanted, but it's not the horror it was made out to be. Just dissappointing. You can kind of see where Trank wanted to go, but like the movie Sunshine, it decides to turn into a different movie at the midway point. Along with an unforgiveable act by one of the characters (that I still can't accept).
Still, we've sat through worse. So load up on some beer and wine coolers, and put an end to the curiousity. ;)

The first act is actually pretty interesting. It's a bit like the first part of Cronenberg's The Fly before goes into the pod. There's not really a second act. It's like two different movies awkwardly cut together.

There's no "like" about it.

It was two movies taped together.

The original director went insane, and the fixit dude understood the time constraints so didn't even try to do a go job as he invented the final 2 acts.

This is always true for contractors, and mostly true of everything else too.

"Good. Fast. Cheap. Pick 2, you can't have 3."

Yep you can still see bits of the original cut of the film on screens when they are discussing the fantastic four.

Incidentally, I saw Fantastic Four over the weekend and I couldn't get past the fact that now, Wally being a street racer seems ripped from Johnny's story in the movie.

I think it's much more likely both of them were "inspired by" the immensely popular Fast and the Furious franchise...

Maybe - Johnny being into fast cars has long been part of his back story (he worked as a mechanic at various times) and I'm sure is also in the Ultimate version of the character that this film is largely based upon (although that does come out after the first film).

How do you prove that a privileged young black man belonging to the %1, who received a first class education just like his adopted white sister, is a bad ass to the African American audience looking for a role model?

I actually enjoyed the new Fantastic Four movie, for what it was. I'm not saying it was a good movie but it definitely was a lost opportunity.

That's part of the reason I'm reluctant to see it. Reportedly, the studio took it away from Trank, tossed out the second half of his movie, and slapped together a new final act that was an attempt to fix it but just broke it worse. I'm somewhat inclined to hold out in the hope that eventually Trank will get to release a director's cut of his version of the movie, although that doesn't seem likely to happen. In any case, I'm not sure how I feel about seeing what's essentially an incomplete story.

I didn't hate the 2015 FF (I actually got it new on Blu Ray because the price went down so fast after release ), but it is pretty bad. I definitely don't buy the "Trank's version would have been good if he wasn't messed with by the studio". The first half is pretty much all Trank, and it sucks. He doesn't get the characters at all, and its obviously he doesn't want to make a superhero movie, he's just using the names and some elements taken from the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic to do his own thing, and his own thing is bad. An all Trank movie would probably have been worse then what we got, actually.

And here and all I remember another show about a guy who could run super-fast and a friend of his who got caught up in the drag racing scene...
