Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

I just thought of something. If Earth-2 Barry is just some lab tech weenie married to a cop, why would they have Batman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman on their speed dial?

Maybe Bruce, Hal, and Diana are actually just friends of theirs named, ohh, Bruce Smith, Hal Chandra, and Diana Nguyen.

I think you guys are way over-thinking what was just meant as a funny easter egg.

It's what we do! If it weren't for over-thinking things, this board wouldn't even exist!

I really liked this past week's episode. Something felt off about the show since it returned from hiatus, but this episode represented a return to form.

I hate to say it, I think a lot of it was due to the focus on Wally and Patty. Without Patty and with less Wally, the episode moved quicker (pun, intended).

Incidentally, I saw Fantastic Four over the weekend and I couldn't get past the fact that now, Wally being a street racer seems ripped from Johnny's story in the movie.

Which is still more complicated than having a proper dialing system.
Really? I think you're the first person to have come to that conclusion.

Which is like saying my car will work fine without an engine if I just roll it down a steep hill. Maybe, but an engine is more useful than momentum.
Wrong. A better analogy would be that your car would work just fine without an automatic transmission, power steering, and/or anti-lock brakes.

It's probably more about giving Wally a connection to speed, given his presumptive future as Kid Flash. In the comics, Wally grew up idolizing the Flash, but in the show, the Flash has only been around for a year and a half. So I suppose they wanted to give Wally a different kind of pre-existing fixation with speed. And they drew on the current "New 52"-universe version of Wally, who's a juvenile delinquent. Put those two threads together, a delinquent who craves speed, and it stands to reason that you'd end up with a street racer.

Honestly, I have a hard time believing that anybody would want to emulate the recent Fantastic Four movie in any way.

On Earth one Robert shot himself so that Oliver would survive.
And another guy. No one ever mentions that other guy! #ExtrasLivesMatter

The one thing that bothers me is that Barry keeps comparing Harry to the "other Wells." Barry never knew his universe's Wells. He only ever knew Eobard Thawne pretending to be Wells.
Yeah, that always bugs me too.
Me three. It's an insult to the good man Eobard murdered, and a lame instance of the writers talking down to the audience for simplicity's sake. And now that they've met and interacted with the real Eobard, there's no more excuse to still be doing this.

I'll mail you a hooker.

What type do you want?

Maybe Iris is the (powerless) Superhero in the family?

The Vigilante maybe?

I get the reasoning behind it, it just seemed coincidental, if nothing else.

As for Wally idolizing the Flash, it would have been great if they took a page from the Silver Age and had Jay Garrick be the star of a Flash comic. Of course, they would have had to acknowledge a fictional Flash back in season 1, but it would have (a) allowed them to foreshadow Jay, (b) given them a nod to Barry's original origin, and (c) given Wally something plot-related to do, as he could have mentioned things in the comic to give insight into Earth-2. To really put it over the top, they could have had the writer be a "Julius Schwartz."

As for emulating Fantastic Four, perhaps it's because I waited 6 months to see it, but it wasn't that bad. Of course, that's a far cry from "good," but as someone commented, it would have made for a good TV pilot episode.

No, even by bad TV pilot standards it's horrible. Amazing how they can screw up FF so consistently.
