Well, I don't think that this forum will become like the TNG forum. First, because there are alot more Niners on the board than you might realize. Second, because before the DVD's the DS9 forum was more active than the TNG forum is now...at least from what I remember! And third (and I really hate saying this...but it seems like it's the truth), more and more Niners are not posting as much as they used to in the other Trek forums, because some of them are tired of risking being unfairly labeled and simply want to post in peace (case in point being all the drama that surrounded that stupid Survivor game
). Hopefully, that last point will change...and the board staff is really making efforts to aleviate the situation...but at the moment, it seems like that may be what is happening, at least to a certain extent. I think there is alot of stuff we can do to keep this forum active. Games, polls, going thru the episodes again from the beginning...all sorts of things. But really, I think the MOST important thing...the thing that will keep this forum active, is the fact that the members of this forum have always been rather close. I LIKE that about this forum, and I hope it continues. The fact is, we don't NEED DVD releases to talk about DS9! Most of the people who post in this forum are NOT seeing DS9 on DVD for the first time...we have seen these episodes lots of times before! We have discussed them before, we have discussed them some during this past year during the DVD release...and we can do the same next year. Certainly, not all the episodes have been discussed this year individually...and so there is alot of stuff still to be said.

Definitely. Kudos Vash.
I too am a bit uneasy about all the "Niner-hatin'" on the other boards. People make us out to be solely DS9 fans, and I know most of us aren't. I grew up on TNG, then TOS. Then Became a Niner, watched Voyager and liked it, but it just wasn't the same. I like Enterprise now, when it's good. So I'm not just a Niner, I will always be one, but it's not all that I am. I love most Sci-Fi... The Matrix, LOTR (I know, fantasy not Sci-Fi), Star Wars, all the classics, Dark City...etc..etc.
I don't think this board will die down either, we're like a family here, especially in this thread. And you know what? That might be the exact reason so many people can't stand us, because we're kind to eachother, and we're friends.
^ Yeah, and we actually discuss stuff that isn't solely DS9 related aswell. I mean, I love DS9 to bits, but I still couldn't talk about it 24/7. Honestly, if this board was only DS9 I don't think I'd spend half as much time in here as I do. But due to the fact that, like I already stated, we talk about a ton of other stuff, it's just a lot of fun to hang out in here.

Well, in the spirit of LOTR TTT EE being released tomorrow, I decided to change my avatar for a while.
Looks good, BigFoot....but then, ANY picture that has *sigh* Orlando in it is all right by me!
And yeah...I understand what both you and Guy are saying above. Shoot...sometimes (particularly lately) the hostility toward us outside this forum (or should I say, in the other Trek forums) even bothers ME...and I'm one of those "thick-skinned mod types".
And the sad thing is, I really *like* the other Trek shows. In fact, the only one I've really struggled with has been ENT.
And I don't even HATE that. I just can't seem to get into it...to bond with the characters.Oh well...I'm hoping it will get better for us out there. And I REALLY hope there are no more survivor threads for a while. There are so many Niners that we have a significant advantage because of that...and I guess that pisses everyone else off.
But in the meantime, at least not many people bother us in here!
And I've never had a problem in SF&F, Trek Lit, Misc, and the Lounges. So there are still plenty of places to post! Well, first things first Bigfoot your av is so hot (I know you prob didn't want that response) so I'll say sweet man! I saw it and well ... sorry I just think he's is about as scrumptious as it gets!
( not to leave out Vash's guy!) Anyway, I also had to comment on Vash's respond which was exactly the way I see this forum too. I understand what your talking about tomalak301 however, this forum to me is just waaayyy beyond your typical forums. OK, maybe I'm a bit biased however, the people in this forum don't just talk about DS9. Sure we have conversations regarding episodes and the actors, etc., but, that's not all we talk about. We are generally interested in the person behind the threads and conversations. To me that goes beyond your typical forum. I found that a lot of the Niners here have many of the same interests as well like Bigfoot said. 24,Matrix,B5,LOTR ect. And Like V said there are other ways we can talk about our show once it's over. We Niners are a cleaver brood. 
And as far as the bashers heck they don't bother me. The way I look at it the stronger you are the more the bashing. OK, enough chatter back to business 14 Days and counting fellas bring on the Breen!

Good post Vash. I think I started posting in this fourm right when the DVD's started coming out so I didn't really pay all that much attention to this forum last year. I do agree, this forum really as been kind of a community within the community on this board. I think thats the thing I really love about this forum. I love the fact that there is so much love here and you guys are really just so cool. I have seen that all these people who say that niners are militant, cheaters, and out to start fights are completely untrue.
However, I still think while this will be an active forum (Which is good) it will be more low key next year. I mean we don't have the anticipation of the DVD's and like you said, with the DVD's the year in this forum has zoomed by.
