The Fall of Joss Whedon

But this isn't about facts, this is about defending a monster because he made good shows and movies.

This.
Some are going overboard trying to re-imagine morality and unacceptable behavior through the blender of "Not-That-Bad-isms" because they are diehard fans of something as (often) weightless as movies & TV series. That their favorite junk is produced by a walking piece of shit with a long history of abuse like Whedon means A) He cannot be "that bad" or B) somehow, society's standards of judgement is the problem, not the perpetrator, but under no circumstances should the guilty party ever be held accountable / judged, for fear that their work might be forever tainted by their actions, and for certain diehard fans, that cannot happen.

Lots of things can be legal and still deserving of public scorn.

Of course, but some pick and choose what is acceptable when protected by law and what is not, hence the chaos and clawing seen in this society.

1. The fact he married someone whom he parented is a strong indicator that he likely had a sexual relationship with Soon-Yi Priven before she was an adult. It is also a strong indicator that he likely molested Dylan Farrow as a child. So, no, it is not "none of our business;" the public has a compelling interest in preventing adults from molesting children.

...not when morality is seen as a boogeyman preventing "freedom" do whatever one chooses. In other words, anything goes...unless it happens to them, and suddenly they would be screaming for aid and understanding of the abuse they've suffered.

2. Woody Allen puts himself out there as an artist, and that means he is by definition inviting examination of his life choices. If he or his fans want to pull the "none of your business" card, he ought to retire from public life.

Ohh, no. Some clearly believe he should provide their junk (because they just can't live without that) and not face a moment of criticism for behavior and actions that any normal society sees as reprehensible.

No, any adult who marries a person they had parented is giving a strong indicator that they may have molested that person as a child. If you marry a person you had previously parented, your choice is public business, because the public has a compelling interest in preventing adults from molesting children.

Again, not talking about Woody Allen type weirdness, just age difference relationships in general.

Thoughts and prayers.

Yeah; imagine being stuck up here in Canada.

Woody never parented or lived with Sun Yee when she was a child.

Mia and Woody had houses on separate sides of central Park, and then they would meet in the park.

@Sci Woody Allen did not at any point have a parental relationship with Soon-Yi Previn.

They only began interacting with one another privately in 1990, at which point she was well past the legal age of consent in both New York and Connecticut.

I'm just repeating a talking point I heard years ago, that seemed true.

That's pretty bad.

He should be in jail.

I just got that detail from the recent documentary. I have been following Dylan Farrow's story for the past few years--and the doc is one-sided as Woody Allen did not offer an interview, but it does have some compelling stories.

But he apparently took naked photos of her when she was still in high school.

Yes, she was still in HS when her relationship with Woody started , but she was also already well past the age of legal consent in both New York and Connecticut.

Also, Dylan vs Farrow is not truly a reliable source of information because its entire purpose is solely to get Woody Allen blacklisted and shunned (which is why I stopped watching it because that's not at all what I was looking for).
