Didn't it turn out they were actually confused memories of consensual sex due to the Voq/Tyler personality split? I remember being annoyed they didnt have the guts to go through with an "edgy" story and sci-fi magicked their way out of having to deal with consequences.

I think so. The first two seasons were a complete mess with that Character.
