That wasn't the case in TOS, so the first time I read a TNG shooting script* I was startled.

I remember when some old lady tried getting me in trouble for saying dammit under my breath at work. Like back in 1989/90. I don't know how she even heard it. She was like close to 90. My boss came up to me and said I was accused of cussing by a customer. . I was like "WHAT??". I told him you mean the word Dammit? He was like yeah. I started laughing and referenced this scene from the Wrath of Khan and that the movie was PG.... He didn't even think it was funny and said well some people think it's cussing....my 19 year old mind could not process the logic of that ..
