The Experience is back!!

So, will this attraction be more in the theme of:

- The 1960's TV show
- The 1980's feature film era
- The 1990's Berman Trek era
- The 2000's J.J. Abrams era

Excellent news I really want it to be a sucess I hope to get to see it again someday.

Rush Limborg, how about a hall of great Starfleet Captains populated with animatronics of Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, Archer, Sulu, and Riker and voiced by the respective actors?

Nice idea...but, uh...they'd have to KEEP renovating it every dang time a new cool captain shows up on screen....;)

I like that idea. They can't forget Cristopher Pike, the captain who REALLY started it all! If only they can get the beeping chair to sound just right durring his speech! "Beep. Beep. Beep, beep. Beep..."

Hell, I'm willing to see just about anything at The Experience, as long at it is back.

I'm guessing a little bit of everything... even more broadly-based than before. One of the most common criticisms of STTOE was the lack of TOS/Feature Films theming or a TOS/Feature Films ride or environment... and they're certainly not going to ignore the newest incarnation of Trek ala Abrams. What worries me, in fact, is that they might move too far from TNG-VOY era theming. I'd hate to see Quark's stop being Quark's.

Is it me, or does it sound like a couple very rich trekkies are backing this...

I mean, the guy who owns the joint said it himself, that it's odd to be expanding like this in a downturn economy, but "he has the backers to pay for it" and permission from CBS...

If that magnifying glass reveals to you whose ass I should be kissing in gratitude, let me know.

Dale, practicing his pucker...

Two of STTE's better GMs are now involved with Neonopolis. I know that during the final days of STTE Classic, they were onhand to look into the feasibility of moving much of the Original to the new location so I'd expect Quark's for sure.

This makes sense to a large degree because it is probably easier and cheaper to move as much existing fixturing and the like. For instance the corridor panelling from the transporter room to the bridge was easily removable plastic. So expect a lot of TNG-era to remain. However, I'd be willing to bet money (appropriate, given the city) that CBS/Paramount shell out some bucks to promote the new film. I'm also hoping someone contact the financially strapped ST: The Exhibition to get hold of some of their goodies, for instance, having the Guardian of Forever as the entrance would be tons of fun. Someone would have to give Harlan Ellison a tranquilizer, though.

Cautiously optimistic.

Just let Harlan have his own stool at the bar where he can get sloshed and tell off all the trek fans.

It will be interesting to see the new layout. Even if all the core elements are relocated there is no need to be limited to the Hilton configuration.

The "History of the Future" - the timeline, the props and costumes were modestly displayed along a walk way to the simulators. It would be nice to see a separate actual exhibit hall created. Maybe the theme of the new Experience could a Starfleet History Museum. WHich would explain why all the various time frames are represented.

This certainly will give me a reason to visit my sister in Vegas again. She works at the Flamingo and is familiar with Vegas tourism. When I told her about the move to Neonopolis she was impressed. Saying that currently there is not much else to do downtown.

. . . except for the Fremont Street Experience. It is a four block canopy of LEDs, largest in the world, at least until the Beijing Olympics (maybe again if they disassemble that one), that they put on a light/music show every hour. The very last thing we saw was a space shuttle launch coming up the street, turning the sky on fire. Then it morphed to the shuttle in space with a starry background. And just when you figured it was over, the stars all streaked into a warp effect. It was a perfect ending to our trip.

Now if they write some performances with ST themes, that would be even more awesome.

Great news! Lots of terrific ideas posted so far, too. I loved the old one, although it was in dire need of updating. I hope that the new one includes the following:
>An interactive ride based on TOS
>An interactive ride based on TNG post NEM
>An interactive ride based on STXI
>The Captain's Ready Room, an area in which displayed on a large viewer is each famous Starfleet captain providing historic information of their particular era and missions. Each one would be played by the original actor as someone else suggested.
>A Starfleet museum with costumes, props, etc. on display
>A family restaurant, reasonably priced with food for kids
>An up-scale restaurant with a bar/lounge
>A shop with items that don't all have Star Trek printed all over them, which makes them cheesy and geeky. I want stuff that says Starfleet Academy, Starfleet Command, Temporal Investigations, USS Defiant, USS Enterprise, Vulcan Science Academy, or similar. Include uniforms, insignia, toys, props, DVDs, books, posters, jackets, T-shirts, sweatshirts, and spirits (Klingon blood wine, Sorian brandy, Chateau Picard, Romulan ale), etc.

So far as the movie theater(?) is concerned, I'll throw out an idea I had back when there was talk of a 3-D IMAX Trek movie: Tying into the museum's "History of the Future," what about a history of flight and space exploration, etc.? Essentially, the opening titles to Enterprise, but without the song and with more detail/narration/etc., starting out with the factual and then moving into the fictional realm in the mid-late 21st century and on. Sort of like In the Shadow of the Moon for the Trek sect (and an obvious excuse to show those ships on the big, big screen. :))

Not that this should be the anchor feature in such a facility, but it'd be neat if they could offer more than one film in such a space, like they do at "regular" IMAX theaters around the country.

I'm sure they could get tom hanks to whip something up. ;)
