If you guys haven't checked it out, TrekMovie.com has a new article on The Experience moving to Neonopolis. It is looking better and better all of the time that The Experience will open again with some new attractions and some old. Check it out.

All I ask for is getting to go to Quark's (or something similar) without having a constant reminder of Abrams-Trek staring in my face.
I want my space booze, dammit.

I hope it maintains - or even surpasses - the quality that we've come to know and love about the original attraction, and that we don't just get a "diluted" version. I'll remain hopeful, yet cynical and apprehensive.

Another ray of light into the future of STTE. This is regarding moving the attraction to the Neonopolis.

The biggest draw could be the Star Trek Experience, which recently completed a decadelong run at the Las Vegas Hilton.

"The museum and the arts center will represent the past and the present and the Star Trek Experience will represent the future," Joshi said.

The Star Trek Experience will have five components and most elements could be completed next year, when a new Star Trek movie is scheduled for release. Just as the new movie will have some familiar characters in some unfamiliar roles, the Star Trek Experience will be similar but different from its predecessor and includes significant upgrades.

There will be a food and beverage component, which will include a restaurant and lounge and a retail area with merchandise from all incarnations of the Star Trek concept. Star Trek fans are incredibly loyal and if the latest movie sparks yet another generation of supporters, the retail element could be very successful.

A museum that explores the entire history of Star Trek is also planned.

There will also be a 4-D movie theater designed to be an interactive experience with high-tech seats that will stimulate the senses.

"They will recreate sights, sounds and smells and take your body traveling through space," Joshi said.

The final element will be simulators - rides that are two levels high in Neonopolis' center court.

Although the project seems ambitious, especially in a down economy, Joshi says he has the backers to pay for the project and also the go-ahead from CBS Pictures, which owns the licensing rights to Star Trek.

This is freakin' fabulous news! I look forward to this reincarnation of STTE! Or should we call the original, Hilton-based venue STTOE?

That said, I hope they bring back as many of the original staff and performers as are willing to come (please come back, WE MISS YOU!), and I very much hope that Quark's is still Quark's and not given some new theme.

Quite simply the best news I've heard all day. :techman: :techman: :techman: :techman:

I have a reason to visit Vegas again.

MAN, that's AWESOME news!

I was REALLY afraid that I would NEVER be able to go to The Experience....

Now, as Michelle "Ma Belle" Obama would say, "It seems that hope...is finally making a comeback!"

Hey, y'know what would be cool?

A Hall Of FEDERATION Presidents, a la Disney World, with an inspiring flick showing the history of the UFP, and then...audio-animatronic figures of all the presidents, as gleaned from Memory Beta. Nan Bacco and a few others would give speaches.

Whacha think?

Trekmovie just released a similar new report, stating that all the original actors (hopefully general employees as well) will be given first dibs before the auditions begin.

It will also open in phases: the restaurant and retail center will open first, then museum then I'm assuming the rides.

Klingon encounter is going to remain the same, except the flight over vegas scene will have different footage so it lands at the Neonopolis. No word as to if the 4D theater will still be Borg Invasion or something new

It has been rumored on other boards that this would be a much smaller version of STTE than the previous incarnation. Still, either way, it would be cool to go see it.

Yay!! I've never been to anything yet, and things keep disappearing before I can! Hope!!

I think this is great news! My Daughter hasn't been to the experience yet and I was afriad she would never get the chance! :)
