The Expendables 2 - Anyone Keen?

I don't suppose there's any possibility of an EX3?

Because if so, they should totally get Kiefer Sutherland. As Jack Bauer, if possible. :techman:

Either that, or the female version as suggested earlier, filled with washed-up female action heroes such as Cynthia Rothrock...

I'd say the preliminary bets are that it's a very EVEN bet and most likely to happen.

The cast in this one will bring in the $$$, Millennium Films will want an EX3. I mean Snipes will be available by then. Maybe the producer and Segal can bury the hatchet and he can be included. Surely the producer and he could see it's a win-win for both parties, like JCVD and his agent realized, to be in these films.

I understand Kurt Russell has been approached both times but turned it down for unknown reasons.
Mel Gibson is still rehabbing his image, might bode well for him to be in an EX3.

Lots of potential still out there for the theme of this franchise.

I'm sure Kurt Russell turned these down because he's still trying to cultivate an image as a serious actor (although he's hardly been working in the past five years).

I really wish Bruce Lee was still alive. :(

Even at 72 he'd still be the most bad ass motherfucker in this film.

And as much as I like Jet Li, it's just not the same.

Besides, I really want to see Chuck Norris get a proper ass whooping.

I was on a website where the producers were looking for a script they could turn into "a female Expendables". The vibe is out there.

Statham's line: "I now pronounce you man and knife." Is just so cheesy. But it's growing on me.

Any word yet on what the rating for this film could be?

After the seesawing of Norris allegedly insisting on PG-13 I thought the news came it was for sure going to be 'R'.

Lundgren and Stallone have said R. I suspect it'll be R-rated, but not 80's R-rated with blood and guts everywhere.

Exactly. I am kind of baffled by the concerns of action films getting PG 13. What the ratings represent have changed so much in the last 3 decades. Its like comparing the value of the dollar from different time periods and ignoring inflation.

This is my most anticipated film of the year. I enjoyed the first and this looks like a vast improvement. It setup the basic concept but this is building on that. Arnold and Bruce's scene was nice. But if a sequel had never happened it would have been a gimmick. But now with their expanded roles there is real payoff. Adding Chuck Norris and Van Damme is upping the ante to the extreme.

I am not sure of how much everyone is aware of this but Sly created this whole concept based on fans wishes he read online. There were rumors Tarantino would cast him and action guys in Inglorious Bastards. Nothing came of that but learning of fan hopes motivated all this.

I am fascinated. Its like he has defined a whole genre. Sure for us who grew up on these type of films we tend to link these types of action stars together. But for the younger generation all these guys will cemented to each other forever.

I love that Bruce said in the first film that he suspected that Barney Ross was not Sly's character's real name. Obviously "Church" was not his character's name either. Its not hard to imagine all these guys could be characters they have played in earlier movies. Similar to how Clint Eastwood basically played the same character in all his westerns regardless of the names. In Sergio Leone's three films his character has different nicknames in each one. Which is why "The Man with No Name" was created for advertising. Eastwood continued to played unnamed strangers in films he directed himself.

if tehy do 3 they HAVE to get Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson in there.

as for a Female Expendables: Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, Rachel Nichols and Adrienne Palicki should be in it with Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale.

I'll take Vin or Dwayne but not both...unless they can't get Snipes, Gibson, finally twist Kurt Russell's arm. Still some 80/90's stars I'd like to see in this homage series.

I agree about Kate and/or Angelina. Angelina fits better cause she did some action-y material in the 90's. Kate didn't hit action status till '03 with Underworld but I'd bet she's an easier grab than Angelina. I mean if we are staying with the 80/90's as the thrust of where we are grabbing the bulk of our action stars

I'd add Maggie Q to the mix. Her tv series, Nikita is one of my favorite shows.

I would like to see at least one older female Expendable if they did it. The closest woman from the 80s with Stallone and Schwarzenegger fame is Sigourney Weather. Or maybe Linda Hamilton.
