The Expendables 2 - Anyone Keen?

as for a Female Expendables: Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, Rachel Nichols and Adrienne Palicki should be in it with Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale.

Most of those are too well known and too 'current'. The whole point of the Expendables series is to get aging, washed-up has-beens or "one-hit wonders" and give them one final shot at glory.

Or at least to get nostalgia value, with a few added present-day folks.

If I was producing a female Expendables, I'd be looking for Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton, Cynthia Rothrock, Michele Yeoh, Michelle Rodriguez, Angelina Jolie, Kate Mulgrew, Helen Mirren, Famke Janssen...

Brigitte Nielsen would be an interesting female to bring in, but considering she was married to Sly and they got divorced with her admitting to cheating on him... I'm guessin that's a no.

can't believe i forgot Maggie Q...

and, Magpie: Kate Mulgrew?!

Remo: Unarmed And Dangerous. And Voyager's Macrocosm, yeah.

Also, I should add Michelle Pfeiffer for having been the 90s Catwoman, and probably Geena Davis for both Thelma And Louise and Long Kiss Goodnight.

And if we can have Pam Grier as well, so much the better

Geena would have to be in it for the awesomness that is The Long Kiss Goodnight alone...plus there's that pirate film...

Surely you'd have to have a cameo at least by Grace Jones :)

Damn, I knew there was someone I'd forgotten!

So my full cast would be:
Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton, Cynthia Rothrock, Michele Yeoh, Michelle Rodriguez, Angelina Jolie, Kate Mulgrew, Helen Mirren, Famke Janssen, Michelle Pfeiffer, Geena Davis, Pam Grier and Grace Jones!

An all-women's Expendables wouldn't sell with just Pam Grier, Linda Hamilton, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock. You'd have to throw in all the current actresses who can pull off action like Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez and Kate Beckinsale.

I doubt a female copy would work or happen for a number of reasons. Maybe just the idea of a cast of famous actress but a different genre. These examples show how few action heroines their have been. There have been actresses who have done an action film or two but not a majority of their career. Which is what all the guys have in common.

I am not sure what genre would best. Detectives? Spies? Lesbians? ;)

I think the key would be a strong cast, script, and director. Of course there could action scenes. But an obvious copy would be forced. I doubt any top level actress would want to be involved if it was.

Someone needs to get Stallone over here to see this thread. :D

I was gonna say someone's taken their kids, but 'Missing' has done that trope (and maybe Ashley Judd should be included as well).

Ummmmmm, someone's taken their husbands/SOs. And in previous lives they were soldiers, agents, pilots, and so on. Their husbands are in, i dunno, contracting in Afghanistan/Iraq/similar. There's yer start point.

But like I said, that misses the point of this whole series: to use washed-up has-beens. You can't put someone in an Expendables movie if people know who they are. The point is to use those who may have once BEEN famous, but are now forgotten. Those are the true expendables.

Good idea about Milla Jovovich, though. Mul-ti-pass! :D

Uh yeah, you mean like Mickey Rourke who had Best Actor Oscar nomination 2 years before the Expendables came out? Or Arnie, who was just the governor of California and probably the most famous action star of all time? Or Jason Statham and Jet Li, who have had a string of popular action movies in the last decade?

Or perhaps Stallone, who put out Rambo IV and Rocky Balboa just a few years earler?

Yeah, what a bunch of nobodies.

I'm really liking the idea of Mariska Hargitay...especially since pretty much all she's done lately is SVU. She could probably kick all kinds of ass in an action flick!
