Spoilers The Expanse Season 6

I didn’t know it was the finale. I was wondering why it seemed to be like Return of the King with those multiple endings.
It was alright but rather rushed. The assault was very Mass Effect; with fighting on cat walks and that pulsating effect. I even think there are missions where you take out rail guns there.
So I suppose we have to wait until 2052 for season 7 now? Hopefully Amazon green lights those proposed movies. I mean that planet story and everything with the entities needs to be explained. I know we have the books but I want to see the TV show’s version of it.

The series finale!

What a wild ride! From start to finish. I’m satisfied with how the Sol System storyline worked out. President Drummer? More like Warrior Queen Drummer.

Glad to see Holden pull one last rabbit out of his hat. A truly unique character and hero.

Naomi with the winning strategy.

Bobbie, Amos and Clarissa with the big hero moments and sacrifice plays.

Avasarala with the scorching tongue, unmeasured sass, master diplomacy and humbled leadership.

I hope Amazon announces a movie or spin-off series to cover Laconia, the protomolecule construct and the restoration of Earth and Mars. I don’t want to leave this universe.

There's a little bit going on during the end credits. Not a mid- or post-credit scene, but....

the ring turns red.

Also, Brian George was in the guest credits but I didn't see him anywhere. Did you?

Anyone notice the names of the soldiers in the drop teams?

You think the C is Shepard is Commander? I suppose that’s possible.

Hidy Ochiai Perhaps?

I think it's more likely "Lone Starr" from Spaceballs. E. Buck is Edward Buck, the thinly-veiled expy of Mal Reynolds from Halo, and Ryan Stone was Sandra Bullock's character in Gravity.

I liked this episode. The action was great and the ending was satisfying, though it left a lot of storylines hanging, especially the Laconia one. Not the greatest series finale I’ve seen but not the worst either, though I would rank this episode as the best of season 6. It definitely seems they’re leaving things open for future seasons or a spin off.

Thinking of the series as a whole, it was an awesome ride and I’m sad to see it go. However, I greatly preferred seasons 1-4 more than seasons 5-6. I didn’t much care for Marco Inaros (and the actor who plays him) and am much more interested in the rings and the protocolecule stuff. I found that the first four seasons had a much more intriguing mystery. I also felt that season 5 was way too scattered with all of the main characters off doing different things. This season felt a little drawn out despite it only being 6 episodes. It’s like they saved everything interesting for this episode. I know the series is based on books, I’ve read the first 3, so I’m sure the books have the same issues I listed (though might work better in book form).

Anyway, I hope we get a continuation of some kind!

I wouldn't say the finale felt rushed, but it certainly didn't waste a single second of it's run time. Very lean and mean, even by the standards of the show.

I really hope there's more coming since they've clearly left the door WIDE open to adapt the last few books in the series, or open up the intervening time for some new storytelling.

Yeah, the vast majority of these are all fictional space travellers of one stripe or another (Deckard & Sarah Connor seemingly the only exceptions.)
The only ones I can't pin down are: L. Banks, R. Levine, K. Garrity, and H. Ochiai. You'd think if they were more fictional characters, or real people on the production that google would flag them up, but so far nothing promising. Maybe something to do with Blue Origin, given the Bezos connection?

For a minute I thought they had abandoned the Mr. Nagata part of the book…….should have known better.

They did it. I'm incredibly satisfied with that ending, and the battle sequences were amazing. That scene where Amos is protecting Bobby almost brought me to tears. I'm looking forward to rewatching this series later in the year non-stop to really get the clearer picture of everything. Still, as someone who came to The Expanse kinda late, this series was incredibly satisfying and I think I would rank it right up there with my favorite 90s series and just sci fi in general. Great finale.

Maybe more later. I'm still on a bag of emotions.

Thank you to all creative people behind and in front of the camera.
What an EPIC series!

Good finale, very satisfying conclusion to the sol system stories and characters (for now or ever).
So many good scenes!
It will be a joy to rewatch in the future and now also read all the books.

I only have a few issues with this final season, and most of it can very easily be planted on being something that isn't ever going to be done for TV (hell it would be difficult in book form), and having to make illogical choices because of length.

Drummer saying that the inners have been as bad as Marco and his followers. Obviously Drummer has many reason to be pissed and distrustful of inners. But Marco and his followers caused more death then all other events in human history combined. Killing far more inners than, inners have killed Belters ever. Marco if he was successful tried to commit utter genocide on Earth. While there have been stations destroyed (and Eros), that was never done by the inners to eradicate all Belters. That's just not been the case.

Drummer wanting the Belt to have equal say in the transit authority of Earth and Mars, two completely different governments is ludicrous. Imagine a singular country demanding to have an equal say to to other nations (especially two other nations that historically aren't allies). Then you get into the idea that the Belt, which accounts for less of the population of the Sol System than Mars, and far, far less than that of Earth. That hands a a lot of power to what is a relatively small group. Now if the transit authority is designed as a Belter only business (then ignore everything I typed).

Now of course this is a tv show to try and touch upon those issues, never going to happen, hell in book form its going to be difficult to find a fair and equitable system, let alone that all three governments would agree with.

Then I love me the character of Drummer, one of the characters that the show has done better than the books). But Drummer should never be the one in charge of an independent transit authority. Drummer has never shown a willingness to treat non Belters freely or fairly. Only when backed into a situation that she must does she, and its never been a pleasant or easy agreement. Now of course by the same token it shouldn't be Holden. Now Holden has shown the willingness to work with Martians, Earthers and Belters and tries to see them as individuals not groups (he isn't always successful, but he does try). And Holden again tries (not always successfully) to do what he views as the right thing. But he lacks both a desire to hold authority, and lacks the skills required for the job.

Realistically you want someone (can be a Better) who is someone who has a history of working with the other groups freely and fairly, but also has the skills that Drummer learned and used in working on Tycho and Medina Station. And clearly there are Belters who treat others fairly and freely (look at someone like Prax he's Belter so clearly they do exist). Now of course the show would need to introduce a new character and spend time developing him or her, and on short season...... The only other real choice would have been to show over this last season (or two) Drummer slowly growing to work with others and not just when survival is required, or it concerns someone she loves, or concerns someone that they love.

I searched and searched but 4 of them I couldn't find matches for.

Garrity, [Shaenon] K. - Real Life Author
Ochiai, H - Original Character
Levine, R - Original Character
Banks, Louise - Arrival

According to a post from the show's Motion Graphics supervisor on Reddit, Ochiai and Levine were the characters Bobbie talks to on the radio, named in the script. Also, he confirms that L. Starr is Lucky Starr from Asimov's stories, not Lone Starr from Spaceballs.

I'm surprised Babylon 5 didn't make it into the list, but I guess they only had so many people. It's very much an influence on the show, though. Holden's Br'er Rabbit politicking at the end of the episode, especially, really reminded me of Sheridan's maneuvering at the end of B5's fourth season, where he seems to be being pressured into doing exactly what he planned to do all along.

I really liked how many of the show's prior elements came back in the finale, especially stuff in from the earliest episodes, like using an Ice Hauler that seemed to be a sister ship of the Canterbury, shipping containers being used as part of a daring boarding action like on Thoth Station, the Pella being disguised as a freighter just like how the Rocinante was initially disguised as a gas hauler, the dark mirror of Drummer's "Beltalowda" speech, the big-ass communications array on Medina Station. I have no idea how many of those elements were in the novel, but symmetry makes stories feel complete, so it helped in giving the episode a sense of finality and conclusion even with so much left to be told.

Right on, mate.

I saw the author Shaenon K. Garrity and that she was a scifi author. I thought the show creators were sticking to fictional characters, but they mixed and matched.

Ditto regarding the B5 characters. I was looking for Sinclair, J., Sheridan, J., or even Ivanova, S. That would've put me over the moon.

I felt the same way. The Expanse was at it's best with the protomolcule storyline, mystery and boiling tensions for war.

Marcos Inaros as the primary antagonist couldn't carry the weight of the show. But we are meant to believe he can. He struck Earth with asteroids, took over the Ring and Medina station. None of which would've been possible without the renegade Martians, their stealth composites, the fleet of warships they have Inaros and the railguns they built for the ring space.

A full on Inaros-Laconia Axis Alliance was needed. I thought they were going to wrap up Marcos in the first 3 episodes of season 6 and then spend that last 3 solving the protomolecule story over Laconia.

Instead, we get 6 episodes of Filip slowly realizing his dad was a fraud and pathological personality. Why the rest of the Belters on Ceres didn't come to the same conclusion sooner, is a mystery.

Fingers crossed for a movie with Laconia still.
