Spoilers The Expanse Season 5

Regardless of the outcome, the smart business move is to try and keep a lid on it until the show is already out, otherwise it changes the whole conversation and screws with the marketing machine.

This does not seem like the kind of situation where no news is good news (for Cas). Especially since “no news” includes “not in the trailer” and “not in prerelease publicity or doing stunt-y ‘fun stuff’ with the rest of the cast.”

Likely cautionary, his appearance in the S5 promo was minimal.
Alex was only mentioned by Frankie regarding a S5 storyline in connection with Bobbie, that can’t be cut, without sidelining Bobbie heavily.

He‘s not been involved with promoting it in any way afaik.

S5 was done filming, before the allegations came to light.

While I heavily doubt reshoots due to the pandemic and costs, they might have trimmed down or even cut his S5 „solo storyline“ scenes already.

Whenever production starts for S6 we‘ll likely get the news about the decision and I don‘t anticipate them being good for the actor.

also great news regarding the BluRays!

On the contrary, staying quiet and keeping one's head down in a situation like this is exactly what one should be doing. Whatever's else is going on, drawing MORE attention to this won't do production or marketing any favours. The clickbait machine runs on frequent new information. If you don't feed it it'll just find something else to post in all caps.

Also let's be honest, this is kind of a news heavy year, so it's not like the press are exactly kicking anyone's door down looking for a scoop like this, and the readership is fairly well distracted. So they can very much just wait it out.

I'm glad this series will have some finality to it. I really am starting to lose patience with series that keep going and going with no signs of stopping (The Flash or Doctor Who). Letting the writers end the series on their own terms is always a positive thing.

Well, there are only going to be nine books, so the series had a definitive endpoint from day one. From the hints the book-readers are dropping, there's some sort of paradigm shift that makes season/book six a decent stopping point. It looks like I'll have the chance to find out myself in early 2022 when the show's over.

Yeah there's a 30 year time jump........they could always wait a few years ad pick it back up with a new cast if they wanted to, but I'll be happy if the wrap it up for good at 6. It was a good run.

The funny thing about the time jump in the novels is that it seems they were thinking of the fact the show might some day tackle it when they wrote the novels, based on numerous references to anti-aging drugs being all the rage and thus the characters still look roughly the same as they did before the jump. And now it seems they aren't doing the time jump in the show.

According to Amazon, the ninth book in the series, Leviathan Falls, is scheduled to be published on October 28, 2021. It'll be interesting to see how the writers resolve the major plot thread left hanging. Given how the eighth book ends, I'll be impressed if they can tie things up and create a satisfying conclusion in one novel. They've metaphorically stuck an enormous elephant high up in a tree and that elephant's presumably got to come down somehow.

I'm not sure if this is still the case but I believe the writers used to assist GRR Martin so it may be that they have to limit the time they can spend writing The Expanse books.
The first five books were released consistently one year apart from each other. It's only since the show started production that large gaps between book releases started. Toss a pandemic into the mix, and I'm not so surprised Book 9 is going to be released as long after the release of Book 8 as it is.

I would have thought that more time having to be spent at home would assist the writers. My suspicion is that they're having difficulty coming up with a way out of the corner they've painted themselves into that doesn't seem like a complete deus ex machina. I suspect that's also the case with GRR Martin. At least the TV version of GoT has shown him what to avoid.

I believe virtually every writer, artist, and creative I’ve talked to would respond, with bitter experience, “Yeah, I would’ve thought that, too.” The psychological impacts of the crisis can and do far outweigh the “No more stuff pulling you away from your desk” factor. Which has led to an element of productivity guilt, which doesn’t help anything get done.
