Your notion that Em needs "rescuing" is presumably more of that well-established delightfulness you keep telling us about. Do go on, please.Don't let me keep you from digging that hole.
There is a hell of a lot going on here recently.
I must admit I am a stunted American, but when I watch the Premier League I don't recall seeing all that many English players - at least not English players that are considered "stars." The majority of the high-profile players are from other countries, and if I am not mistaken, doesn't the Premier league take a break to accommodate all the players leaving to play for their national team?
There's a big number of English players but the influx of foreigners has been a problem. This is why they introduced the home-grown quota of eight players. Sadly, all that's done is encourge bigger fees for English talent (re Sterling).
I thought we were all having fun?
I watched a match on Saturday, and they were talking about how Man U paid 45 million for the rights to a young player who previously played for Monaco... and that they could end up paying as much as 90 million if certain conditions were met. That's insane.
Why of course we are.
I certainly am, I adore irony.

I think all European leagues take a break for the Euro 2016 qualifiers if that's what you mean. The German league did as well.

I'm not sure - I just heard the announcers say that the players were back from their "international break".
I watched some Bundesliga over the weekend: Bayern Munich vs. FC Augsburg. Not a bad match - Augsburg was clearly overmatched but they played tough and never let Bayern completely overwhelm them.
