The European Football Season 15/16

The Ferengi are like the English. All about financial capitalism but no recent football world cup wins.

And no baseball skills (like Rom). I'd take the bribes to hire Mr. Laser Beam as new head coach for the Niners.

They shoud switch to soccer, if you don't mind my saying so.
A Klingon vs Rom on the field in a Materazzi vs Zidane like scene.......:klingon:
Worf killed an opposing player unintentionally, btw. ;)

No sense of humour and prone to fascism and greasy black hair.

Obviously, I'm talking about Cardassians.

Garak is a lovely person. He knows fashion, has a great sense of humour, loves irony and subtle wit, and kept making fun of the dude with the English accent.

Works for me.

Garak plays football in A Stitch in Time..... ;) As goal-keeper. The Gigi Buffon of Cardassia, ha :techman:

Garak was scum... then he met Bashir and developed humour, compassion, self-awareness and humility.

You're welcome.

I'm not sure what it is but I enjoy seeing English teams lose, that includes the national team.

Because the Premier League is overratd ? I know that's why I enjoy seeing English teams lose and why I enjoy the fact that they buy a lot of players in Ligue 1. Seriously, André Ayew player of the month ?

I am very happy with the result of my team of nouveaux riches :)

What I don't get is that it's still tactically so awful after all these years of non-English coaches' influence. But hey, I'm not complaining. :p

Overrated in the sense that an English team reached the Champions League final every single year from 2005 to 2012 barring one or overrated in some other sense?

Possibly because you don't actually know or understand anything about football?

Do you just spend all day trying to come up with some mild insult? I gotta say it's amusing to watch. I'm engaging in friendly banter about English football and you go all "Fascist!!!" and "You don't understand football!".
Why so passive-aggressive? Your posts are always so angry, need a hug?

When Jonathan Wilson wrote "Inverting the Pyramid" he had some fun things to say about how tactics are still not valued enough in England. You should read it, it's pretty good.
I'm sure it'd give you a better understanding of the game. Judging from your posts it seems you're sorely lacking that so far. There are some decent blogs, too. Zonalmarking.net isn't very active anymore but spielverlagerung is pretty hardcore tactics if you understand German.

So, yeah... probably the best book about the evolution of football tactics and formations and it's written by a Brit. Lovely irony, isn't it?
He wrote a book about eastern bloc footie, too probably focusing on Lobanovskyi but I haven't read it yet. I'm a footie fan but I have lots of other stuff to read, too. :p

Overrrated like in right now (like today) it's overrrated and not very interesting and buying a lot of players in a not very interesting ligue.
Spectacular doesn't mean strong.

hux, ehm hugs, that's what he needs.....

My posts are a delight.

Every thread you get involved in however, you bring vileness. I'm doing my best to understand why. You seem to offend people incessantly yet appear oblivious to it.

I must admit I am a stunted American, but when I watch the Premier League I don't recall seeing all that many English players - at least not English players that are considered "stars." The majority of the high-profile players are from other countries, and if I am not mistaken, doesn't the Premier league take a break to accommodate all the players leaving to play for their national team?

I don't know about Premier League. In the German Bundesliga it is sometimes frowned upon when foreign players are detailed for their national teams too often. Disputes about the playing schedules are common.

The Germans are World Champions but always fail to qualify for Olympics. Participation in Olympics has obviously low significance. And the teams don't have to fear for their young talents to be injured in a relatively insignificant tournament.

There's a big number of English players but the influx of foreigners has been a problem. This is why they introduced the home-grown quota of eight players. Sadly, all that's done is encourge bigger fees for English talent (re Sterling).

Big fan of the beautiful game?

Why yes, light-hearted trash talk is the most beautiful of games. :techman: Especially with a side-order of projection and unwitting self-disclosure.

So that's a no.

This pattern of Emilia being unpleasant and then you coming in to rescue her... am i coming between something here? I have a natural charisma that i cant be held responsible for.
