The Down Under Lounge

must be some incredible spin going on sky news.

MediaWatch show clips of credlin and markson going on how the poles were wrong and dutton was going to be P.M etc.

they were even more wrong than usually.

not to mention the news corpse papers.

bowen got a nice little jab in at them for trumpeting a poll that claim he was he was 20% an independent.

Just like Poilivere in Canada lost his riding...

We had three leaders lose in their ridings in our election:
  • Conservatives' Poilievre
  • NDP's Singh
  • Green's Pedneault (co-leader)
Singh and Pedneault stepped down gracefully (although the Greens still have co-leader Elizabeth May, who won her riding). Poilievre, of course, is doing whatever he can to hang on to the leadership, and a sacrificial lamb has agreed to resign in a safe Conservative riding in another province to allow Poilievre to try again.

Congrats to Australia for their Labour landslide. Nice to see you reject RW politics whole-heartedly. We also rejected it, but sadly not quite as full-bore as you did... the Liberals were held to a minority, and the Conservatives still had a very strong showing. Thanks to you for showing the world how it's done.

If we had rejected it as strongly as you have, then perhaps Poilievre would have been forced out by his party regardless. At least Dutton seems to have had the good grace to step away.

There was an article on the CBC looking what the likely outcome would have been it trudeau had kept his promise and got rid of first part the post and replaced with a preferential voting system like Australia has.

the conclusion was we'd have majority liberal govt.
