The Down Under Lounge

She's a hypocrite. Backed the No Voice vote, then condemns the King.

I'm no royalist, but no Republican either. An unnecessary expense and a plague on both their houses. As they said on the much missed Panel, "the people in the Republican Movement either want to be the President, or have lunch with the President."

Lidia is an attention seeker. She'll most likely disappear when she is up for re-election whenever that is. Don't really care for her.

I saw someone on social media - say that she should be PM. Nope. Thankfully this person most likely doesn't understand how politics works in this country. She would need to be house of reps and be a leader of a major party (and I don't see either of those happening)

The Qld election is going to be close, and it shouldn't be. Actually a possibility of the LNP winning, to give "the other guy a go". His policies are useless and undercosted, and the chances are high they will be a wave of public service sackings, like last time. Well, I guess I'll jst have to pull up the drawbridge until I can get back to NSW.

Why the fuck are aussies importing American culture war politics?
It's as if a switch has been thrown and suddenly fundies in the LNP are making abortion a hot button issue and won't shut up about it.

For example Joanna Howe a professor of law at Adelaide uni the most vocal of the lot and she harassed other academics including one at Flinders uni who she has rather vocally harassed, calling her out by name and a bunch of others with the instagram tag "baby killers club"

There's a whole history about her and she's a puppet and member of Opus Dei

That plane collision in Sydney was in my street, like three doors up. But I didn't even realise there was a plane crash until the ABC reporter was knocking on the door and talking to my dad, asking for eyewitness comments.

Shit that feels really close, glad you are all well. Not glad about the crash

All Qld newspapers, and I mean all, are owned by Murdoch. Also this idiot notion of "give the other bloke a go", when they should remember what happened last time with Campbell Newman. And fear, beating up yoof crime as out of control, when it was in reality in decline. The REAL reason was all the benefits (eg, 50c transport fares) came from what was called a 'mining tax', when it was an extended payment for public resources. The mining corporations donated 4x the money to the LNP than all the donations received by the other parties combined.

I don't think Qlders realise how good they had it.

Separate topic. ABC repeated the Aust Story on Fiona MacDonald and her battle with MND. I was surprisingly teary throughout. She was very brave, and she was a sweet, happy, warm person. I miss her, and I didn't even know her.

I saw that the first time they aired it. She was one of my favourites growing up

So, Alan Jones is in trouble.

I get no statute of limitations, but this has the feel of chickens coming home to roost. He was too powerful and too manipulative for a long time. Somebody's looking for payback.

I never liked the guy, so my sympathy is rather limited.
