The Down Under Lounge

My inner cynic wouldn't be surprised if $even kept going - as they have with Teo and Roberts-Smith. They seem to like throwing good money after bad, regardless of court decisions or anything else, so why would they stop now? All these bad investments would (in theory) make normal people wake up to themselves, but given their track record I'm not convinced anyone at $even is capable of seeing how brainless their support of these people is.

Remains to be seen, I suppose.

the fallout from the teo and brs hasn't been as bad as what we've seen from with lehrmann and roberts-smith is still appealing the verdict.

Also I don't recall any heads rolling after the other two (was there any sort of special interview with like the spotlight one?).

Oh and they never paid for the proverbial hookers and blow for the other two.

I remember when Arndt was a well-informed sexologist and advice columnist. Her descent into darkness is one of the most awful things I've seen.

Bettina used to be helpful and speak for women but something changed and she went total fruit loop.

Meanwhile I just had a crappy ending to my day. Somehow my bank account has been hacked. 8 transactions all at the same time for Playstation.. I don't even have one of those anymore. I rang the number on the back of my card and they have now cancelled my card and it might take up to 45 days to get the money back.

Not happy Jan

The satirical site the Batoota Advocate had the headline "Bing chunga spends millions to show everyone he raped a woman".

I refer m'learned colleague to the cartoon up the page. He may as well stamp on his forehead, "I am a privileged twat and I will never learn. Also, what bear?"

Ignatius Jones, singer and artist, has passed away. He was best known (at least to me) as the lead singer for Jimmy and the Boys. He has also performed jazz with Pardon Me Boys and choreographed part of the opening ceremony for the Sydney Olympics.

J&TB was a real shock rock band (for the 70s), featuring bondage gear and shocking songs.

They were a fun live band.

I heard this the other day, thought I'd share.

Conversations is a great ABC Radio show. The hosts sit down and talk to a person for an hour. Like Slow Journeys, think of these as Slow Interviews. Some are promoting a book or album, or have come back from wild adventures, or have lived simple but exemplary lives. They are really good to put on when working or driving, are available as podcasts or broadcast on ABC Radio, check your guide for times.

This one is with Cassandra Pybus, a historian who wrote the biography of Truganini, and her latest book explains what happened to the "last" Tasmanian Aborigines, especially after death, when the Royal Society pilfered their bones and shipped them off to the UK, a contentious issue even today. This is worth your time, as are MANY of the Conversations. Please check it out.

There is one white man whose body I'd like to dig up and scatter his bones, that's for sure...
