The Down Under Lounge

This kind of thing really pisses me off because we'll never really know why these freaks do what they do untill we go around and another thing happens.

Like that mother killed in Ballarat and the little snot that killed her can't be made to tell where he put her body.

They just said also that the perp was known to the police. So he had some kind of history.

Two of the victims have been announced. And a third is also known to be from the inner west of Sydney. Also, two of the other victims were from overseas and had no family here.

The person who did this had mental health issues and has been announced.

I hate it when they say that, even if it's right. It gives people with mental health issues a bad name and reluctant to seek help

When the baby was stabbed, the mother passed it to two men rather than defend herself. Reminds me of the Strathfield Plaza shootings some years ago, when the gunman aimed at a child and their mother wrapped herself around them and saved them.

Mothers.

I never had much time for John Singleton, but his daughters is one of the victims, and I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

The guy targeted women. The sole male victim was a security guard.

The stabber is a vile piece of shit.

The policewoman is an absolute hero, as are the tradies that held the guy back with bollards.

A interview with the father of the killer. He believes his son targeted women.

The judge's ruling was comedy gold. He called evidence presentation an "omnishambles", and in his conclusion said Lehrmann had got out of the lion's cave unscathed then went back for his hat.

I know.. Well he could sue the Judge now, he likes suing people.

On a more serious note he has another case pending in Toowoomba also for rape, and he is a keynote speaker for an event organised by Bettina Arndt.

Justice Michael Lee is a hero. Great to see a judicial figure who absolutely gets it about sexual assault and how women don't all react the same way to it. His excoriation of everyone involved in this...saga (including the insufferably self-righteous Wilkinson, whose statement after the judgement was incredibly self-serving, even for her) was brilliant. Good on him.

Lehrmann is filth. Wonder if $even will keep forking out money to him now (my guess: Yes).

Bettina Arndt is an abomination. To put it incredibly politely.

And Michael Slater has been charged with domestic violence yet again. How many chances is that utter grub going to get?

Bettina is a bit of a freak. She goes as far as even defending pedophiles. I'm not going to put links but you can look up this stuff for yourself if you must.

not so sure there.

the EP of spotlight has left the network and this has been a diaster for them.

according to the morning murdoch in Adelaide, lehrmann was scheduled for a speaking engagement at swanky dinner but has withdrawl.

And where to next for his big backer? None were named on Media Watch as they seem to be largely in the shadows but there were some at news corpse giving him support (janet albrechtsen for one).

finally an op-ed/analysis piece on the ABC about how the Higgns case saw rape turned in a culture war.

My inner cynic wouldn't be surprised if $even kept going - as they have with Teo and Roberts-Smith. They seem to like throwing good money after bad, regardless of court decisions or anything else, so why would they stop now? All these bad investments would (in theory) make normal people wake up to themselves, but given their track record I'm not convinced anyone at $even is capable of seeing how brainless their support of these people is.

Remains to be seen, I suppose.
