The Down Under Lounge

I haven't noticed this much in the past but maybe last year, and this year have woken me up a bit, but why does this government never ever take responsibility for anything that happens? They either shove it under the carpet and hope it vanishes or blame Labor because they have nothing else to offer.

Why is this?
So far we have

Climate Change
Toxic culture in Parliament - Brittany Higgins and others
Bushfires - PM was out of the country but spin spin spin when he returned
Covid 19 - Blame the states
National vaccine rollout - A state problem not my problem.

That last one they can't even get right. They have missed the mark on how many front line workers should have been vaccinated and people in critical areas by miles. What the hell is going on?

Shouldn't the vaccine rollout be a national thing and not just a state thing?

Yes.

Smirky denies responsibility for anything. This is the guy who went on holiday while NSW and Vic were burning down, and infamously said, "I don't hold a hose, mate." That is not a leader. by any measure of the word.

Yet so many people will vote this lot back in. He calls them the "Quiet Australians" What the actual fuck are those?

You might find this a good read @Australis

Sorry for the double post but found these Scott Morrison doing blame shifting and he has links to Qanon

Here are a few more juicy things our Federal Government has been up to

Morrison government accused of ‘despicable’ bid to shift vaccine blame on to aged care workers

and this

ABC Bosses block 4 Corners story linking Scott Morrison to Qanon figure

Scott Morrison calls this one disappointing

That programme is going ahead anyway.

Is it now? I thought they were not going to put it on air. Brave Scomo will have a fit.. ABC funding cut more

I wonder if Scott Morrison has himself links to Qanon.

Religious Freedom WTF?

Well it's back on the agenda

‘Right-wing backlash’: Church group to make religious freedom an election issue By Michael Koziol June 6, 2021 — 12.00am

The Morrison government has placed religious freedom back on the political agenda, as Attorney-General Michaelia Cash restarts meetings with key stakeholders and church groups embark on a lobbying blitz to shape and enact the laws before the election.

Freedom for Faith, a lobby group run by law professor Patrick Parkinson, is organising a “religious freedom weekend” for June 11-13. Priests will use sermons to preach the need to protect religious freedom and parishioners are being urged to lobby their MPs about the urgency of the issue. Attorney-General Michaelia Cash has restarted talks about the government’s proposed Religious Discrimination Bill.

Doesn't matter if there is a paywall, you're still not allowed to reproduce a complete article here. A paragraph or two is acceptable for illustrative purposes. I have trimmed your quote to down to the first two paragraphs, but if there are two other paragraphs in the article that you think are more relevant to what you are trying to get across, feel free to replace them.

You should not be supporting these criminal business enterprises.

I'm not from Australia, so I didn't realize the Sydney Morning Herald was a criminal business enterprise? (Although I do find it amusing that it has the same acronym as "shaking my head".)

Regardless, though, the restriction against reproducing full articles is a board policy, so I still have to follow it.

I had to fork out $500 yesterday to get a medical procedure done in a private hospital because I would have had to wait too long to have in done in a public hospital. I can only afford basic hospital coverage and the $500 was my excess for the year.

@Miss Chicken couldn't get it done on Medicare? (before the LNP try to gut it again)

I don't know why Pfizer wasn't the go to choice for everyone just get it over and done with already
Because a chap on the AZ board was a LNP director at one stage. Shit you not.

I'm not in the age group that can get Pfizer, so I kinda feel I'm being told to fuck off and die.

Medicare paid for some of it. Medibank paid for the rest except for the $500 excess.

I was being tested for two types of cancer that there’s history of in my family. i was negative for both :). I have to be tested again in 5 years time.

This govt. is all about "jobs for mates" and that's no fricking joke. That doesn't at all surprise me.

Was Morrison being snubbed at the G7? One news report this morning mentioned he wasn't invited to the formal dinner. It just looks weird with him there trying to be one of the big boys and kiss up to the UK and USA.

^ There was a petition circulated for him not to attend his high school reunion.

A person who works for FriendlyJordies was arrested by a counterterrorism unit. Let that sink in. A police unit used to track down terrorists is used by the Deputy Premier of NSW to harass the staff of a journalist-comedian.
