The Down Under Lounge

There used to be such seas...

It was this big...

And then shrank to this...

It was called the Eromanga Sea. It is also no coincidence the Great Artesian Basin is roughly in that position of the sea in the second picture.

In these lockdown times, try and track down Australia: The Time Traveller's Guide. It's a great insight into this ancient land's really ancient history. It's not in iView sadly, but is in iTunes, and you can purchase it on YT, $6/ep, or $22/full season (4 eps). I have also seen it in... other places. :shifty:

OK that sounds really interesting

I watched a little of it last weekend when it was on SBS. It's something I need to buy on bluray. Haven't seen it in a long time.

I've been pushin this vid in the Down Below, but getting little response.

However there is an important bit about Australia, starting around the 44 min mark.

I urge you to watch the whole thing, it's a deep dive into history and the world today and how we got here. Don't be put off by the clickbait title.

There has always been a small part of me that wished for a sequel to The Fifth Element, but there is a larger part of me knowing any sequel would unlikely work (hell look at Valerian). Lightning in a bottle rarely happens twice (unless your name is Gary Ablett)

I think the aliens from The Fifth Element got a cameo in Valerian. I actually didn't mind that movie and wouldn't mind a sequel to that. But I felt the movie was Laureline's movie she was pretty cool.

So, m'flatmate now thinks ScottyFromMarketing is a good bloke because of the handling of the virus. One event outweighs all the other stuff. We got quite testy, both of us. Can't stand that line of reasoning. Gah.

Yeah one "good deed" doesn't absolve one of many other misdeeds. Scummo from marketing is a distraction though it's Dutton you have to keep your eyes on because of some of the new laws he's in the process of drafting or has already drafted and passed while we are distracted with the pandemic and other things.

Haha just saw that Perth thing 4 brave idiots took over an old courthouse that probably isn't even used .. Brave fucking idiots.

If they were that sincere why didn't they try their stunt in downtown Perth?

I often think the sooner WA and (especially) Qld secede, the better. Watching them fall in a screaming heap while desperately clinging to their pathetic delusions of superiority would be quite entertaining, in its way.
