The Down Under Lounge

I don’t know why people still mention capital punishment. No one has been executed in Australia for 52 years. In Tasmania it has been 72 years and I think in Queensland it has been 105 years since they last executed someone.

I would rather see him spend the rest of his long life paying for what he did.

I didn’t know about the poem until I did a search this morning.

Gee, Scott Morrison certainly did a quick backflip about that food bank.

Guess the benefits of going through high school about 15 years before I did (or not being in S.A :)

Yeah, ScoMo's backflip... what the hell was he thinking? It's a piddly amount compared to other govt programs.

I doubt scumo was thinking. he only seems to be able recite slogans (from Mediawatch on Monday night his latest seems to be "Canberra bubble").

becomes much harder to justify when you've given away 1/2 a billion to liberal party mates ($30mil to uncle rupert for foxtel, $450 mill to a dodgy mob in the name of protecting the GBR).

Okay, someone's having fun. I tried entering New South Wales into Google Translate to get the Latin translation. Guess what comes up.

Victoria.

*Cough*

I'ma gonna write my local member. This insult must not stand.

LOL. Over a decade ago I would have been annoyed at this, but since moving to Melbourne a few years ago, have found this city to be wonderful.

Don't think I read "A Victorian hangman tells his love" - as high school for me was over 25 years ago.

It's probably Bruce Dawe's most famous poem and he was on the S.A English Curriculum when I did yr12 in 1988. Guess other states didn't have him on their curriculum
