The Down Under Lounge

Fire on all day here. It was cold if the wind blew, but it was mostly tolerable the few times I went outside.

Apropos of nothing, Kazan, where Australia played their first game of the World Cup, is Japanese for volcano.

Hmm, haven't seen those at local Coles, will keep an eye open.

It's 14C here at the moment. ut we had hella winds earlier.

The LNP hates the ABC because it scrutinises them a bit more, and because it makes Daddy Rupert sad. It really is that simple.

So I bought Vegemite Bagels at Coles, by Abes the same people that make the vegemite crisps. They are very dense, infused with vegemite and some vaguely cheesey stuff on the top.. they are AMAZING OMG THEY ARE SO GOOD. I could literally eat a pack a day. I highly recommend them before they disappear. I just ate them with butter toasted.
Holy cow these sound fantastic... I don't live anywhere near Australia, so hopefully you can beam me over some. ;)

But here it's storms and thunder and wind blowing off snow somewhere. Gaaaahhhh! Not used to this on the Coast!

Yeah this 'let's privatise public utilities' thing is working well.

Oh don't get me started it's my pet peeve

Electricity, water, and gas

All of these should be marked as essential services.

But no successive state and federal governments conned the people into privitisation saying that it would lower costs. Yeah how'd that one work out for everyone. Who was the brainfart that got everyone on this bandwagon?

Should be an essential service, not just for homes but for businesses, government and emergency services. It's essential.

Now they’re suggesting regional areas might pay more for the internet. The original intent of the NBN was to level the price between city & country.
:brickwall:

It is very hard to access some government services if you don’t have the internet. Centrelink are constantly telling people to do things online.
