Shit! Libs won the SA election. Well, there goes any useful renewable energy policy out the window. Libs are saying it was a referendum on energy which is code for "Now let's get back to coal! Isn't coal great?!"
to be honest it's not a surprise and frankly if the libs had lost the 5th election on the trot they really would have been in some seriously deep shit.
Labor was tired and had some serious failings.
What was telling is that the libs didn't romp home. They've picked up 24 seats which is a majority but they it's a squeaker. At the moment it's Lib 24/Lab 18/other 3 and two are undecided (one is likely to be a lib hold, the other is leaning towards being a lab pickup)
Labor lost 5 seats (one to the libs, one to an independant, can't find the other 3 damn ABC) but the libs only picked up 2.
there was a 2% swing against Labor, versus 7.9% against the libs - think they lost a shitload to SA Best (xenaphon) but they failed to pick up seats.
While weatheril's disatisfaction rate was 50%+ marshall often trailed as a preferred premier and lack lustre satisfaaction with his job as opposition leader.
if marshall's not careful he'll be the next campbell newman - he's got almost not buffer if the voters get too pissed with him
