The Down Under Lounge

Bronwyn Vishop has resigned as Speaker. It is about bloody time. I would like to see her charged with fraud.

That will never happen.

Abbott painted her as a victim in his press conference...

Meanwhile Clive Palmer did this

Good old Clive (?).

Grrrrrr - many of my Tasmanian friends are posting photos of the snow they are experiencing even those from different suburbs around Hobart but my suburb is snow-free. The last time Hobart had settled snow at sea-level was in July 1986.

Early tomorrow the temperature is meant to get down to -2C so maybe there will be snow at my place tomorrow morning.

I wish the climate would change more and we got snow in Adelaide in the suburbs. That would freak people out.

Trust me you don't.

Snow is fun for the first few days then it becomes and pain and having grown up in Adelaide I doubt it would be go down well with people.

Though I'm sure hte tiser would find some way to blame it on the labor government.

The Big Snow in Hobart in 1986 lasted less than a day. The kids didn't have to go to school. We had fun making snowmen and about 1pm we had a huge snowball fight with several of our neighbours. The snow was all gone by 4pm.

Of course snow is more common in other areas of Tasmania, even in Hobart's higher suburbs.

Your last point is so true.

Any kind of screw up or such and it's "But Labor"

Snow in the Blue Mountains in June, bushfire three weeks later. But no climate change!!

Overdue that Bronny's gone. Frankly a bitch. An elitist, privileged, pain in the arse and dyed in the wool bitch.

In just over a month (14 Sept) I will be on the NBN :) I hope that the speed is as good as the say it will be.

Don't count on it. The LNP version of the NBN is going to be like the very early days of DSL....

But sigh vested interests killed off the proper NBN

I have no interest in the NBN. My suburb isn't planned for building to start for a few years and I get 90 Mbps through Optus cable anyway, even during peak hour.

I realise it needs to be done, but I'm perfectly happy to wait.

I'm not. Last year I spent several weeks in Korea and I was in a continual state of shock at the internet speed. "Why does it need to be faster?" is something I will never say again.

Uploaded 300+ huge photos every night to flickr ALL AT ONCE and it took under a minute.

My internet speed is embarrassingly slow - at best 5mbps. It takes between 30 to 60 minutes to down an TV episode and about 5 minutes for an audiobook.

With my NBN I get 6 months of a free Presto which is Foxtel. After that 6 months is up I plan to sign up with Netflix rather than giving Rupert my money.

See that is the thing I do not understand how the NBN could possibly hurt foxtel. If Rupert had any brains he'd exploit the NBN to make money not kill it. But sigh that's lobbying for you.

People who live in the USA understand the power of corporate lobbying on government..

Last e-mail I had from my mum she mentioned about going NBN (she'd moved from Telstra wireless to ADSL but the copper on the street is shit and she had problems).

She has s smart tv, tablet, wireless setup at home so I suggested she goes Netflix and drop the foxtel.

be nice if she could completely tell rupert go frig himself but being in Adelaide if you want the daily paper news scum is your only option.
