The Down Under Lounge

I only have heating in the lounge room. Going to the loo in the middle of the night is not very pleasant.

Me too, I only have a wall heater in the lounge. I have my coat next to my bed so as soon as I have to get up I put my coat on. My fingers are getting numb typing because this computer is in a totally unheated space

I have a warm dressing gown but I don't bother putting it on when I am just going to the loo.

However I must be getting old. Last winter I bought an electric blanket, the first electric blanket I have had since 1984 (when my ex left he took the electric blanket with him).

Pop into target. Fingerless gloves are $6. I buy a pair every year.

It's getting down to 3c here over night. I've got my split system in the lounge on timer. It's the wrong room but it's enough to take the edge off through the whole unit. Thankfully it's a small unit. I don't like the cost but I've really struggled getting to work on time because I just can't get out of bed in that temperature. The heater on for 2 hours does cost less than missing an hour of work because I can't get my arse moving.

When I was about 12 my electric blanket caught on fire at the control. I heard a buzzing sound and looked down to see what it was and my sheet which was hanging down had just caught alight. However the electric blanket was years old and the wires were exposed and my parents should have replaced it.

I'm scared of electric blankets. I feel like they are going to do something bad.

my mum would be lost without her electric blanket.

plus it's a consolation when she has to get up at 5 in the morning (she's a nurse).

Though for friend had it worse for getting up early. She worked in a supermarket and would occasionally be there for deliveries which mean getting up at 3am. Not much fun in winter.

Hit double digits here in Newcastle just now. I wish I had an electric blanket, but I got rid of it a few years ago. Need to buy another. Have plenty of blankets on my bed.

^ It's cloudy here. Expecting rain later. I need to do some washing. I'll just head to Risa for the rest of the day. It's nice there.

It is a sunny day here but not much warmth comes with it, it is now 6C. High winds warning for the weekend.
