Can you sense it? It's almost time for the national collective backpatting of our sporting superiority as we crush the the likes of the Ghana and Kiribati. Screw the Olympics, the Comm Games is where it's at!

Though seriously, I am looking forward to the Rugby Sevens.

It's REALLY cold. Much colder than previous winters.

The sun did come out beautifully today though and it warmed up a bit. But that was like a glitch. We are being punished for the summer going on and on and on and making people extra happy this year.

Went to the AIDS 2014 conference today, the Global Village part. Just packed full of interesting talks, people, displays, art, information and conversations.

Ummm I can't be bothered reading last 5 pages of this thread.
    Its 1am here.
So I apologise if the questions already been asked but is anyone going to see Shatner at Comic Con? Or did you see him? Can't be bothered looking up if its already been on.
I've seen him twice in Australia but can't afford to go eastward this time.

Shatner seems to come here every year. I'd stalk him if I lived in Sydney or Melbourne.

I sort of stalk Karl Urban. Well just see him every time he comes here - even though he just gives us his Kiwi sass.

I saw him a year ago at Comic Con in Melbourne. I missed Comic Con this year because I had the flu. It was in July. Not sure where he is this year, don't think he was in Melbourne? I saw Karl Urban at Armageddon a few years ago, in between XI and XII.

Shatner at Comic Con last year:

I saw Shatner also at that con. I'm just too lazy right now to post any pics.

I'm gonna see him at Sydney too. And Karl Urban is awesome. One of the best cons guests I have seen.

I wouldn't cross the street to see Shatner.

Pretty much indifferent to the Commonwealth Games at this stage - the World Cup was my main sport focus this year. So long as all our lot do the best they can on the day, that'll do.

Though I am a little annoyed at the swimwear design - it would have been quite possible to include Tasmania - I was far more annoyed at the 2000 Olympic Games bouquets. Each bouquet contained the state flowers of each state except Tasmania. When the organisers were asked why The Tasmanian Blue Gum flower wasn't in the bouquets the answer given was "we didn't want to confuse the athletes" which I consider to be a rather bizarre excuse.

That doesn't make any sense at all. I'm trying to think of a single situation where an athlete would find that confusing and I'm coming up blank. Unless we don't want them to think Tassie is part of Australia????

Commonwealth Games Time: the only occasion where we get to watch the riveting sport of lawn bowls during prime time television. What would we do without it?

I think that is why Tasmanians were so pissed off, the excuse was so bloody stupid.

Of course some people are sniggering about "the map of Tasmania" being under the swimsuit.

That same thought crossed my mind, but, being male, thought it best not to voice it.

    Wait, what?

I'm going to be petty here. Someone's got to.
My main interest in the Games is Australia getting more gold than the Pomms and New Zealand of course but that a given.

I also have a six degrees of separation thing with Sally Pearson and Madison Keeney.
    So go Madison and Sally.
