KIRK (over comm): What about that, Spock? Is it possible?

SPOCK: The drop in power is definite, Captain but negligible. The object is still pursing us, thereby causing us to drain our power reserve at a much greater rate.

PALMER: Mr. Spock, the transporter is now operational.

 

[Claudia]

Spock: Transporter operational, captain. Shall we beam you aboard?

[Constellation Auxiliary Control]

KIRK: Negative.

[Enterprise Bridge]

KIRK (on comm): Mr. Scott and I will stay here, but beam the damage control party aboard.

 

[Claudia]

Spock: Captain, there is little to be gained by staying aboard the Constellation.

KIRK: Except possibly the destruction of that thing out there. Carry out your orders, Mr. Spock.

(via ship intercom) Transporter room. Beam damage control party aboard.

KIRK: Spock, listen. Maybe Matt Decker didn't die for nothing. He had the right idea but not enough power to do it. Am I correct in assuming that a fusion explosion of ninety seven megatons will result if a starship impulse engine is overloaded?
