How good were these episodes. DS9 improved with age so much, absolutely first rate.
The Seventh Season...was bad.
The Ezri Worth continuous was tiresome for me.
But in both Season 6 and 7 only had 66 percent of the episodes that had anything to do with the war so you can imagine how this was when this was airing...the number of filler episodes in a row was a bit difficult to endure.

Well, your opinion certainly reflects the prevailing feeling around here. IMHO though, the series peaked in seasons 4-5, and 6-7 (containing the War proper) were not as good.

I don't agree, I found it more realistic. War's are generally seventy percent sitting around thirty percent fighting.
But it was all worth watching, at least once. Even the bad episodes!![]()
I enjoyed that aspect of storytelling, even though ultimately I believe STar Trek should not be a war show. My greatest disappointment with the Dom War, was they didn't touch on it enough in the STNG movies...the annoying notion that the TV and Movie divisions of Paramount should stay separate robbed us of an epic conclusion on the big screen of the entire affair.
The Dominion war is what makes DS9 my favourit Star trek Series, it lead to what i think is the best episodes of Star trek ever In the pale moonlight and It's only a paper moon.

ugh. I hated "it's only a paper moon," which reminds me of another reason why season 7 is a big step down. Too much Vic Fontaine.

I'm rewatching the show on Netflix, and I am finding the Dominion War a lot less interesting this time around. I thought it was great the first time I saw it, but now I think Season 4 was definitely the highlight of the show. Maybe I just have a soft spot for Klingons.
