Yes, the Master is the real highlight of the series despite being utterly irrelevant to the plot.

With regards to time dilation, the Master's two clocks show 2 days for the control room at the top and 365030 for the city at the bottom. That's a ratio of 182515 across 400 miles, so 456.3 per mile. This is all calculated very roughly, of course.

What bothers me is that the people and the Cybermen were fighting their way up the ship - towards the singularity. Surely it would make more sense to punch downwards and try to escape altogether.

It was about 150k:1 (2d10h), which would about 3 years before they got in the lift, and maybe another month or so in the lift - however both Master and Bill said 10 years and 10 minutes. Either way no more than a decade on hospital deck to escape the cyber men - and they spent far longer hiding out on the farm deck.

They hadn't devised the technology yet to make Bill a full Cyberman during the 10 years we were checking in on her, so she could have spent a hundred years in a patient sack face, pushing around a drip, before they stuck her into a fully converted body. She could have been in a bed screaming for a century before her full rig was ready.

Fair point.

Well Michelle Gomez she's done with the character so they'll have to get a new actor, or actress. I'd rather they get another zany female to be Mistress again.

You ideally need someone who can be a twisted reflection of the Doctor, so you nee d to know who your Doctor is first - and then you kind of want a contrast to the previous incarnation. Which would mean a bit less randomly barking next time...

Since The Master has always been obsessed by The Doctor, I'd love to see him wear one of his old faces - David Tennant, maybe?

Missy is dead. The Master is the new Missy. He has a chance she is lying on the ground on some redundant space ship level with dead eyes and an umbrella.

Considering the randomness of jiggling molecules to build a new face... If the Master does the opposite of what he was told to do which leads to the birth of Missy, just by not going to their TARDIS, then there's a New Master in place of Missy, and the Timeline as we knew it collapses.

OMG imagine the look on the Doctor's face at the Master when he sees one of his old faces... I don't know if that would actually work but it would be very funny.

AMERICANS! Michelle and friends. Not the lead. She's the villain. Hilarious. 2 seasons. 18 episodes.

The Master knows that Missy weakened in 'her' end, he killed her for it. Not sure if he had a choice he would embrace what she/he became. Though also not sure what he could do about it. Maybe get off on a different floor.. These blessed timelines seem to be capable of being plural and parallel, isolated and universal. The regeneration of the Master is secondary to the Doctor. The Doctor gets to spend Christmas with his origin self and between them a new era begins.

A post-Gomez Master could turn up without explanation. (The Ainley Master was killed off in 1984 and returned in 1985; we got a potential explanation in The Witch's Familiar (2015).)

So maybe her clothes are zap-proof just as the Doctor's seem to be (somewhat). The Simm Master probably suspects this, or suspects/knows that she has a way to avoid permadeath.

I'd be pleased to hear of Gomez being enticed back; it feels like there's more to be seen from this incarnation. But if she doesn't, I think there's a gap in the market for a female version who intends to live up to her name. (It looks like there's recently been cross-pollination with a certain other show in regard to what you might call an alternate Missy.)
