News The Disney+ (The New Streaming Service) Thread

The first 10-ish or so seasons of The Simpsons is absolutely a draw. Unfortunately, that's only about 1/3rd of the entire series.

The UK has several movies plus their latest ABC TV show.
Sure, but that's a tiny fraction of what they've done over the decades. They don't even have all of the original movies, they're missing Muppets Take Manhattan. Them not having the original The Muppet Show on there is a huge mistake, I would love to see it on there, especially if they included seasons 4 and 5, which have never been released on DVD. I'm a huge Muppet fan, and the fact that Disney has done so little with them over the last few years have really disappointed me.
I know they're no Marvel or Star Wars, but they still deserve better.

Artemis Fowl is skipping the theaters entirely and going straight to Disney+.

This'll be the biggest movie to actually be a Disney+ original. By far.

Disney must not have high hopes for it.
I don't think it's that, it's just because of the theaters being shut down, and it's not exactly Marvel or Star Wars. I think now that it's clear this is going to be going on for a while, we'll probably see more of the smaller movies going to the streaming services.
I wasn't sure if I was going to go to the theaters to see it, but I'll definitely watch it on Disney+.

Piece of advice for anyone who hasn't seen Onward yet (I was one of the few to see it in the theater right before everything shut down): There will be tears. Have tissues ready.

They say that about every Pixar movie but I haven’t cried once yet.
I’m not that annoyed about Onward not being on Plus here yet. There are better things I want on it. Like the Hercules and Aladdin TV shows. Also the Honey I Shrunk the Kids tv show. Loved that show when I was younger. They used to show that at 11pm after Home Improvement (another show that should be on it) on the Disney Channel.

You didn't cry at the end of Inside Out when Riley finally came clean about losing her childhood home? I think I cried more over that scene than the scenes in Up. Up was more touching than sad.

Don’t think I’ve seen Inside Out. I know about the imaginary friend though.
I’ve just read an article that said Disney Plus put out a survey which hinted the idea of putting Buffy and Firefly on the service. They are certainly not family friendly but with Agents of SHIELD on it, I suppose there is a chance.

I actually just read an article about this very thing:

Tears are expected from a Pixar film. We just watched it tonight. The family and I were going to see it over spring break, but spent it in the house instead--and the Cineplex closed anyway. Really felt like the movie was worth for months of my subscription. Not as good as Coco, but certainly up there--loved the D&D in-jokes and my laughed out loud a few times. My wife was in tears for the last fifteen minutes of the movie--I that one scene at the end had my eyes welling up to. I love the way Pixar films respect the audience and don't go for the easy ending.

They just need to change Hulu from its own service and make it the adult section of Disney+.

I think it's probably easier to just keep all of the Hulu as it's own thing, so we don't have to deal with age guards or anything like that.

I really can't see either of those going on D+.
Yeah, someone already posted that in the thread, it was what started my conversation with Thribs.
I just remembered another Henson production that I believe Disney owns that isn't on there, Dinosaurs, although that's one that might be more appropriate for Hulu.

Good riddance. As someone who first read the Artemis Fowl books as a kid when they started coming out, and still enjoys them, this movie seems like it will be one of the worst book to movie adaptations in awhile. Maybe I'll waste time on it for free (well, "free" in that I already subscribe to Disney +), but I was never going to bother with it in theaters, even though I'm extremely fond of the books. Now if only New Mutants would join it...

Eh, it looks more like one of the lesser Pixar movies to me, where it won't be actually bad (so it won't be like Cars 2, Toy Story 4 or The Good Dinosaur were), but it will be a one time watch then forget about for me (like Brave, Coco, Ratatouille, etc).

Two of those movies, I consider to be among the best--and, for me, Coco could very well be the best Pixar film.

I haven't seen it but I've heard similar things. It's probably not a movie to watch if you want to feel uplifted during these current events.

I would recommend Inside Out. It’s my favorite Pixar film.
Great movie. Didn't think I was going to like it but it was a lot of fun.

^ I watched Onward last night and I can’t imagine not feeling better after watching it. I mean you’ll probably be misty-eyed but it’s an uplifting movie.

Damn, just when I think maybe we could agree on things, you go and say some weird ass shit like this. We just watched Toy Story 4 a month or two ago, and I though it was great, probably second only to 3 in the Toy Story series, and up there with some of Pixar's best.
