News The Disney+ (The New Streaming Service) Thread

Really? Most people seem to consider it one of Pixar's absolute best.
What was it that made you so angry?

Damn, just when I think maybe we could agree on things, you go and say some weird ass shit like this. We just watched Toy Story 4 a month or two ago, and I though it was great, probably second only to 3 in the Toy Story series, and up there with some of Pixar's best.

I personally couldn't stand it. To be fair, it would probably be in the same category as Coco or Ratatouille if Toy Story 3 hadn't been such an amazing end to the trilogy. If they were going to make a TS4 it needed to be spectacular to make up for how great an ending TS3 was, and they didn't, at all. To me, Toy Story 4 is a mediocre film made worse by also being pointless and kind of shitting on the far superior Toy Story 3 just by existing. Its not the worst Pixar film (that will probably always be Cars 2, although depending on my mood sometimes the absolutely rancid Incredibles 2 takes that title), but it was not good and I'll probably never watch it again.

That was our problem with TS4. It would have been a fine ending to the series, and a good movie, had it not been preceded by an AMAZING ending to the series in TS3 which was a better ending in almost every way. That makes TS4 hard to grade, because it is good, but made lesser because it is trying to wrap up something that was already wrapped up in a better way. It's like in Buffy, Chosen in Season 7 vs The Gift in Season 5. Chosen was good, but the Gift would have been such a better way for the series to end.

I expected Toy Story 4 wouldn't top the ending or finality of 3 but I think it does and I love the movie. It definitely wraps up Woody's story in 4 and the theme of the movie of letting go (of your kids as they get older) was a very strong point of the movie.

I was really shocked by the ending, I did not expect it to actually go that way. I'm curious how they're going to handle things if they do any more movies or specials after it.

That's my fear about Agents of SHIELD season 7. The season 5 finale, "The End", was so perfect that it will be hard to top. AoS is currently my favorite network broadcast television show, so part of me was happy when ABC decided to give them two more seasons out of the blue, but another part of me thinks that the show should have ended with "The End".

Bob Iger has said that we should expect to see more of Disney's smaller movies being put on Disney+ rather than going to theaters. I'm curious which movie this would include, the article in the link does include New Mutants as a possibility, but this is purely the person who wrote the article's speculation, not based on something Iger said. The fact that it wasn't include in the list of new release dates, does point to this as a good possibility. It looks pretty dark though, so I could see it going to Hulu instead if they do go that way with it.

I doubt New Mutants will be on it since it’s more mature and Logan is the only x men movie not on it.
