It's funny sometimes to find out what is the least fave ep is of someone. I have no issue with Armin hating Fascination (though I find it harmless fun) it's hard to fathom him ranking it below some of the other stinkers. (No offense, DS9. I love you but like all Trek you whiffed it a few times.)

I am definitely a bigger fan of the Ferengi episodes than most, but the late ones I find pretty undeniable failures. I do wonder if we're going to get passionate defenses of "Profit & Lace", "The Emperor's New Cloak", and "The Dogs Of War", when the time comes.

Passionate, no, but all those episodes have something positively memorable--scenes and dialogue--that make them worth watching above many of the worst episodes of DS9 and the other series. Indeed, I can never say Shimerman or the other Ferengi phoned in their performances.

Well, this Memory Alpha section on "Fascination" makes it clear that it's a real missed opportunity they didn't use one of their double-up slots on this episode:

Though I'm a fan of all the hosts, I was disappointed when they announced at the end of last week that Armin would be doing "Fascination." As vague as their memories are on most of this, Terry's referenced "Fascination" by name more than once during the course of the pod, so it was clearly memorable for her. I was looking forward to hearing her expand on this one.

Hmm. I don't remember those Terry references, so maybe that's a missed opportunity. Though I am glad that Armin was around (for a change) to give "Fascination" the drubbing it deserves. Robbie and Garrett were way, way, way too easy on on that dud.

Although it's amusing that we've reached the nadir for those three hosts, as Robbie said "Civil Defense" was his least favorite episode to date. Come on, Robbie. While it's far from great, it's at least watchable and not nearly that bad.

Garrett's least fave to date was the dreadful "Meridian." Kudos to Terry for also correctly taking apart "Meridian" even though it was a rare starring episode for her.

This week's episode was a little odd. I'm surprised how little enthusiasm they could muster for Improbable Cause and complaining it didn't have a B story.

They rated it higher than Distant Voices which is to me is one of Season 3's rare duds.

I did get a chuckle about the dynamic between the hosts over this, in that it was Robbie and Terry pitching B story ideas, and Garrett vibing with the episode as-is and trying to figure out how to respond diplomatically. But he seemed to find their B story pitches as insane as I did! (Quark as an expert on Shakespeare?) Or at least that's the subtext I chose to read into it.

I was just listening to the Family Business episode, and I was getting a laugh out of the hilariousness of them complaining multiple times about real life Ferengi while also asking me to give them money to unlock more content.

I’ve listened to a few season three to catch up. I’m keen to hear their thoughts when s4 begins.

I find I much prefer when Terry is on. She’s charming, funny and quite insightful, balanced and honest in her takes even if she doesn’t seem to remember many stories from filming. Armin’s nitpicking is boundless, over the top and a bit of a downer after a while. He also has very little sense of humour, which is quite funny given the humour of his character (something he generally seemed to hate). I was looking forward to hearing his take on Family Business but was surprised by how negative he was, and Robbie. Garrett didn’t say much until the end where he admitted he found it thoroughly entertaining.

See i didn't mind Armin on Family Buisness because all his criticisms were legitimate and well articulated. I like the episode more than him but can't really deny the flaws he spoke of.

The only time I thought it got nitpicky was when he moaned about the O'Brien and Bashir breaking into the bar scene where I felt like screaming, it's just a light hearted comedy scene, it doesn't need to be examined in depth! Also after years of moaning about Star Fleet being too perfect and the Ferengi always being silly and comedy relief. Here we have a scene where Star Fleet are comedy relief and he's still complaining!

Terry was just as negative towards Facets in terms of rating but she mostly just agrees with Robbie's criticisms rather than makes her point like Armin so doesn't come over as negative.

I hope they'll both be on Way Of The Warrior, that dynamic worked well on Emissary.

That sounds like it might be too much! It's so rare for Armin & Terry to be on together (I believe it's only happened three times? last one "Rules Of Acquisition" in season 2 I think?), I feel like adding a guest on top of that is going to crowd people out. But maybe I'm wrong.

I was surprised they didn't have both Armin & Terry on for "Facets", since it's such a heavy Ferengi family B-story. It's the first episode since "Rules Of Acquisition" that I felt really called for both of them.

Will be really interesting to hear their insights re Way of the Warrior—Michael on being the newcomer and Terry and Armin on what the existing cast felt about the show’s “retooling”.

Armin very much considers himself a "very serious actor" and takes it all a bit too seriously which, again, is a bit ironic given that he played a Ferengi.

Nah, that one stinks and it's one of the vanishingly rare times Armin was right about something.

Well, maybe that's not fair. He has correctly graded some lousy episodes appropriately, even while Garrett and Robbie often miss the mark. Garrett likes almost everything, while Robbie is unnecessarily harsh on quality episodes.

Both of them often use the "it was harmless fun!" excuse to give passes to duds like Fascination and Prophet Motive. (Armin was appropriately down on the latter and also on Family Business which, IMO, while not a great episode overall is at least one of the more tolerable Ferengi-centric episodes in the show.)

And Armin is unnecessarily harsh on Andrea Martin's performance. I thought she was great and was easily 100x better than the dreadful Cecily Adams, who took over the role after her.
