They aren't just co-workers any more. After all they have gone through together and especially now, when they're cut off from everything they used to hold familiar, they have grown into a family. Quite a difference from what we started with in 1st season.
And VOY rarely struck me as emotionally honest and I struggled to connect with the characters. Strict professionalism in the face of hardship again and again is hard to believe. That's true. But remember what the crew of Voyager went trough over the years? And they never hugged and cried all the time. Everyone acted a little more professional and rational...with some emotional moments here and there.

Well, I didn't make it past Season 2 so you got me there.Whether Voyager was running under 'strict professionalism' is not something I saw continuously. It was more evident in the first 2 seasons yes, but from season 3 onward? Not so much.
do you understand its purpose?Well, this was a brilliant idea for a thread.

When you hurl soup at walls, who needs to weep?Burnham's crying so shamed Spock that he refusing to let people see him cry in public.
JAson
Part of me is moved to tears by it.Oh totally. But, like many other well-intended things....
In the last two eps we saw a Burnham who didn't cry.
I prefer the emotional one.
AndBurnham cried in the most recent episode, "Terra Firma, Part 2" (toast scene).
Oh, I get you now. Noice!Andthat Burnham was the emotional one.
Except, she was trained on top of a traumatic event. Suppressing that trauma is not healthy show of stoicism. It did what would reasonably expect to happen-burst back to the surface and now Burnham has been working through it.Plus it doesn't make sense for a character with years of Vulcan training
Uh-uh.I think Burnham has cried in ever single episode. Someone should do some research.
