The computer voice on next Trek TV series - actor

Douglas Rain, he was the voice of the HAL 9000 in the movie 2001 a space odyssey.

Just checked and apparently he's still alive.

I would have an easy time believing Uhura recorded a voice for a computer communications interface after Trek VI.

Or that one of the Soongs did one.

Since it takes place in the 2250s, maybe the computer will be silent (it was in "The Cage").

I haven't seen Enterprise yet. Did the NX-01 have a voiced computer?

Didn't they have have someone else to share computer-voice duties with Barrett on Voyager (or maybe it was ENT)? Perhaps they could get her to do it.

I think having Marina Sirtis do the computer voice work (if the computer speaks at all) would be a nice tip-of-the-hat to the former series/ Plus as stated in many of the TNG-blu extras, Marina makes mention of how Majel and Gene Roddenberry were like her second family/parents, so what/who else could be more fitting?

If you really follow tradition, Fuller's significant other should be the voice.
Federation computers ..... Gene's wife Majel
DS9 Computers..... Ricks' wife (iirc)
Babylon 5 ... JMS's wife (iirc)
Quantum Leap .... Bellasarios' wife (Deborah Platt)

If the ship is a mish-mash of technology (which would not only explain the awkward design of the ship itself, but would also allow them to use more modern computer technology than TOS without needing to go full retro [and full silly in the process]), they could move away completely from a Majel-like voice.

Personally I'd like to hear an authoritative male computer voice. Especially if the tech is Klingon-based.

Computer should be silent. Fallback is to use Majel's prerecorded dialogue. I presume the audience of today would not like the TOS computer voice?

They should get Robin Curtis. Her reading of the "David is dead" line is perfect for a computer.
