Pete Carroll is a rumored name to be taking over as coach of the Seattle Seahawks, so take that for whatever it's worth.

Thought Georgia would sneak back in there after murdering Texas A&M, but I guess there were too many 4 loss teams.

Poor Jim Mora...

JM's Top Twenty-Five (Final 2009-2010 Poll)

1 – Alabama (14-0)

National championships at two different schools? Saban may well be Satan.

2 – Boise State (14-0)

They could hang with anyone, no matter what the naysayers think.

3 – Florida (13-1)

I wager Meyer will never coach again.

4 – Texas Christian (12-1)

No disgrace losing, but that wasn't the TCU we saw all season.

5 – Texas (13-1)

And, ultimately, they beat no one this year.

6 – Cincinnati (12-1)

That doesn't happen if Kelly's still coaching them; they don't win, but they don't lose by 845, either.

7 – Ohio State (11-2)

I hate 'em ... but I respect 'em.

8 – Iowa (11-2)

Now defense is sexy.

9 – Brigham Young (11-2)

So is offense.

10 – Oregon (10-3)

Still think they win 13 out of 20 matchups with Ohio State.

11 – Penn State (11-2)

Only the win against LSU has them this high.

12 – Georgia Tech (11-3)

That wasn't much of a showcase for the unstoppable offense.

13 – Virginia Tech (10-3)

No bad losses, and that's some achievement, considering the schedule.

14 – Nebraska (10-4)

What a freakin' defense.

15 – Pittsburgh (10-3)

Despite all the hype, no monster win.

16 – Wisconsin (10-3)

That last win impressed me more than all the others combined.

17 – Miami (9-4)

Will be in someone's preseason top five.

18 – Mississippi (9-4)

The same record meant more last year.

19 – Utah (10-3)

All in all, not a bad follow-up to the dream season of 2008.

20 – Louisiana State (9-4)

This guy's name should be Less Time.

21 – Texas Tech (9-4)

I predict a rapid descent into mediocrity now that Leach is gone.

22 – Southern California (9-4)

I predict nothing of the sort for the Trojans—unless, of course, Carroll leaves.

23 – Clemson (9-5)

They may be on the right track.

24 – Navy (10-4)

All the service academies acquitted themeselves respectably this year.

25 – Central Michigan (12-2)

That QB of theirs can play a little ball.

Rutgers Watch: The Knights just miss the final poll, but are a definite preseason favorite in next year's Big East.

Honorable mention to the Connecticut Huskies; they kept it together after the death of their teammate Jasper Howard, and notched a couple of huge wins over Notre Dame and South Carolina. You did yourselves and the Big East proud, guys.

Congratulations to the Alabama Crimson Tide, the JM's Top Twenty-Five National Champions!

Hey Lane, thanks for screwing us. Next time at least leave some change on the way out.

Sincerely,
TN Vol fans

Tennessee does have an 800K buyout clause, not that it's much consolation. While I sympathize with the Vol faithful, I can understand Kiffin's move. He used to be an asst. coach at USC, and the assistants he's bringing with him are highly-regarded - Chow used to be the offensive coordinator during some of USC's greatest years. It's his dream job. Plus, signing day is practically here, so the timing while unfortunate for Tennessee is critical for both schools giving them time to reassure their recruits.

Found this pic over on Facebook. I believe it speaks for itself, for me, and for all Vol fans:

I, of course, am rather pleased by these developments.

All Kiffin bashing aside.... I also happen to be a USC fan so, should this end up actually benefitting the Trojans, it won't be a total loss from my perspective.

Personally, I'd like to see Tennessee get David Cutcliffe back from Duke. He was always the brains behind the operation when Fulmer was here. Now, if Randy Shannon could get the 'Canes back into championship form, I'd be all set.

Speaking strictly as an interested outside observer, I thought it was a master stroke on USC"s part. They've brought in what seems to be a good package of coaches, some they're already familiar with, and right before signing day.

BTW, since Carroll's staff is out the door, I hear this job is up for grabs. Digits and bro ... maybe you can work in shifts.

Breaking News: Lane Kiffin new head football coach at So Cal. And apparently he's bringing his Dad and dcMonte, Ed Orgeron (ol coach and recruiting coordinator). Earlier ESPN had reported that Norm Chow would be comign as well, but I haven't seen that corroborated yet.

Be afraid, be very afraid

Wait a sec. You mean all that badmouthing of Kiffin from Al Davis when he fired him was actually true???

*Looks out the window. Doesn't see any pigs flying*

:wtf:

Fuck you Lane Kiffin, for having things going in the right direction and having a real chance to wipe the smug grins off Florida and Alabama faces and then running like a small child. You had UT fans excited and energized in a way they hadn't been in the last days of Fulmer and you could've walked on water. One year? Really?! Five years, understandable, three years even would be annoying but whatever. But one bloody year? And fuck you for proving that crazy sea monster Al Davis right, which nobody should ever do. And fuck you harder for taking Monte and Orgeron with you.

And fuck you Southern Cal. I've not liked that place for as long as I've cared about college football, and this hasn't improved them in my eyes one bit. I hope the hammer comes down about the Reggie Bush questions and Oregon, or Washington, or UCLA, or Cal, or Stanford, or Oregon State, or Washington State, or Arizona, or Arizona State wins the Pac-10 for the next 20 years.

So... a new coach. Again. Woohoo. In an attempt to be less hypocritical, I'm gonna leave Dave Cutcliffe off the list. How about Bud Foster or John Chavis, for somewhat-off-the-grid possibilities.

PS Your wife is still hot Kiffin, and your props for that will be returned shortly.

Looking at Kiffin's record I fail to see what USCw is thinking, unless they just want someone to ride out the incoming NCAA probation, funny enough he leaves behind another investigation at UT.

As a Florida fan this is kind of a bummer because I wanted him to stay right where he was, but what a sleazy way to leave town, calling recruits from campus for your new job.

Tennessee is so screwed right now. Coaches gone, recruits will flee (at least those with any IQ points).. the next two years (at least) will be basement time.

But in the long run, you got rid of a snake. You always knew he was going to bite you in the nuts, just be glad it's over.

Now hire well and get competitive.

As talented as Kiffen might be, I don't think that this will go well for the probation prone USC.
