The Caretaker

In season one John was a goon. It was comedy. The stupid human outmatched and out witted by the condescending alien crewmates was a delight. They treated him like a stupid child.

Climbing his way out of goonishness was John's new life's goal that started with proving his slingshot theory in the pilot, and then spending the rest of the show trying to crack wormholes, until he did, and then he was the most powerful being in the galaxy to be feared and respected finally as all Americans should be.

Near the end, John had a wormhole to Earth, he was home all was good, he could finally be at peace. Unfortunately Chrichton had to go back out there, and seal off Earth from the Skarrans permanently so they didn't use mankind to chalk their roads. John made a heroic decision to sacrifice his happiness to save the world, when there were easier selfish options still available to him.

I think the Nacene were interesting enough that I'd have liked to have seen another story or two with them and/or other Ocampa. It's a shame more wasn't done with Suspiria, she had potential to be a complicated recurring antagonist.
