The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

Re: The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

Honestly, that is the best piece of art I have seen for M'Ress! Did she actually photoshop pieces of lion in that pic? It is that photo-realistic.

I purchased a "print" of that selection from the artist. It is apparently hand drawn with colored pencils to create the effect of individual fur strands. Shrunk as it was, the "photographic" illusion became a bit more believable.

Onto a slightly different, but still related, topic, which one of these "interpretations" of Lt. M'Ress do you (meaning anyone reading this thread) prefer?

The first one employs a base mesh modeled to resemble an anime/manga figure. Morphs were used to make it appear feline. This is the one I've shown earlier in this thread.

The second one employs a base mesh modeled to resemble a generic anthropomorphic character. Morphs were used to make it appear more distinctively feline; the default shape was somewhat "mousey".

Obviously, neither is a direct "recreation" of the 2d cel art, but rather, they are "personal interpretations". Given that, which do you find the "more appropriate" interpretation?

Sincerely,

Bill

Looks cute either way ^__^

Re: The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

I'm not a M'Ress fan. Instead I'll vote for a write-in candidate: Julie Newmar circa 1966. :)

With her voice dubbed by Eartha Kitt...the perfect combination! ;)

Originally arranged and rendered for the June 2011 art contest, the theme being "R&R in the Trek universe". M'Ress appears to be treating it like "Spring break". Is there really a difference? ;)

Items include Xcalpro's shuttle, Lady LittleFox's "Melody" (built upon the Aiko 3 figure from DAZ) and minimalistic clothing by Oshikai. M'Ress' "mane" is actually 3 copies of a tail prop by Achronicity and Rduda sculpted the Saurian Brandy bottle.

Sincerely,

Bill

Re: The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

Welcome back ;)

Oh, I never really "went away". I usually "lurk" a few times a week. I realize not everyone is into this character and I don't want members to feel I'm "spamming" the board.

Sincerely,

Bill

Re: The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

I would think "spamming" in this context would involve trying to derail other threads into discussions of M'Ress. Posting artwork in threads where she is the topic hardly counts as that.

In other words, post more, man! :techman:

Re: The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

M´ress isn´t a carcter that I like, but your work looks excellent! My vote is for the second version. ;)

If they can handle me and the Ponies they can take a few more barely clothed M'ress images. ;)

Well, since this thread has resurfaced, I'd like to see more works with this version of M'Ress. First version is still the best IMHO.

Bill, any chance you can make another "vacation shot" (recently posted) with this original version? (Obviously, sans Chekov)

Really, let's keep the M'Ress thread alive.

is chekov gonna yiff that?

Re: The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Sorry I didn't replt earlier, but I was out of town for a business trip and have just returned.

So Starship likes the second version which uses Melody while Q2UnME prefers the original Aiko 3 based version. Hmm...

Actually, I can assist Q2UnME right off the bat. A few years ago I shared my "formula" for the "face pose" with Oshikai a maker of vendor of 3D content. He has a couple of accounts at DeviantArt, one for sharing 3D freebies, and a second under the name *Idalacio where he displays his renders. You can access it here...

http://idelacio.deviantart.com/

He built upon my settings and gave the A3 based M'Ress her a "spark" I don't feel I've managed (though he claims he barely improved anything).

He doesn't have all his Trek based images in one section so you'll just have to poke around. Be advised, however, some of his pin-ups are pretty darn "saucy". View with caution if at work. Better yet, don't take the risk while at the office.

Sincerely,

Bill

Re: The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

I thought I had already uploaded this render, but I guess I didn't.

Spock-Mress-J-1.jpg

It's an update of an earlier composition. I swapped out everything for Spock, new base figure, new clothing items, new textures, even a new hair prop. M"ress is the same except for a new and vastly improved mini-skirt uniform courtesy of Oshikai. I also tossed in Ptrope's M4 robot as an impending menace.

Bill

Re: The "Bride" of the "M'Ress Appreciation Thread"

There is a fan-made comic on what I believe is the Star Trek Animated website that features a M'Ress-centric story featuring intrigue on Cait and guest-starring the crew from the fan-made Exeter series, of which M'Ress was a member before her posting on the Enterprise. It was an interesting read.

Someone should draw up M'Ress in the new uniform seen in the upcoming film :).

can i get a link to that site i cant find it anymore :(
