The Boss.

Actually, if I get proof of the half dozen or so things that have been done, that may even breach the Geneva Convention, let alone workplace rights, I will be more than a little miffed.

Geneva convention? As in the humane treatment of prisoners of war?

Too bad your imagination doesn't match your actual skillset, or you WOULD be flying in that jet right now. Thankfully, you're too kindhearted to complain about being a tortured POW, I guess?

How is this thread not baiting, again?

It's so nice of his torturers to let him use the internet.

I'm not baiting. It's just mental cruelty, really. But, it's bad. It's amazing, you can get some situations, if you don't put in that 120% effort, when people around are just sitting looking at you, and you don't get the project finished, you're the bad guy. And the project could benefit everybody. And they're just sitting there, lookiing at you and blocking up the occasional email, just to watch you spit, and if you do, and it causes trouble, you're the bad guy.

It's amazing how these people fade into the background, when you get it finished.

Well, why AREN'T you putting in the effort, if it would benefit everyone, including yourself? You've flat out admitted that you don't try very hard, because you're afraid you'll have to share credit, so why aren't you getting your work done?

And what do you DO, again?

I'm just scared that it will get taken off me, and i won't even get a mention on the report cover. You're right, there's not a lot I can do about it apart from get it finished. There's a good chance I might come out of this with a gold star or two. And, a good chance of finding out who the rats in the office are. Maybe even a future.

Seriously, dude, your behaviour's a bit odd - why can't you tell us about the kind of job it is? We don't need to know where or who for, but what would be useful.

Really, that tells us absolutely zero.

Industry? Products produced? Workforce size?

All these can be done generically, without naming names.

Actually, one boss is very careful not to do anything at all, to stymie this project, apart from a little general tormenting, cos if I find out at least one of the things they have done, a humble apology, at the very least, is in order. Another, who has now left, said I was best left where I was, til i got the boot, or got out, and the secretaries, who sit around, are powerless.

I think if I got my own office, and a title, and some info and gen, of the upper office politics and power situation, I could fit in very well and wouldn't cause a ripple.

Actually, if you don't already know much about the upper office politics and power situation, you have no way of knowing how well you would fit in.

I'm not participating in this thread any more until Cheapjack provides some basic info about what he does, particularly the type of work. We don't need to know the specific company but he needs to give us an idea of the type of work and size of company. "Creative" doesn't cut the mustard.

There's a line from the movie 'Arthur', when John Gielgud advises Arthur:

'just be yourself, sir, they can't take that away from you.'

Very powerful bosses can. It takes real effort for them not to.

If you are this incoherent in the workplace, I'm amazed you have a job.

Thats because he's Self Employed.... Therefore he is actually the "Boss" and has created a topic bashing himself and then cheering himself on for dealing with his Boss (himself) therefore I submit that everything said cancels everything out therefore
