The Boss.

I was the one who first suggested that. Credit, please.

;);):techman:

My best bet would just be to get on with it. I got the blame for a bit of trouble, caused by my outbursts, I guess, a few years back and my superiors said it was my fault and I had to be kept in my position, even though it causes ructions. I don't know. Thing is, I'm so far down the company, I don't even know that, I'm just guessing and the ones that know, and have control, insist on keeping me at my desk, til I get the boot.

Actually, I would be interested to know if anyone else feels undervalued at work.

sorry, but how is that statement a rational response to anything posted thus far?

I can't decide if this is complete nonsense, or half-hearted baiting...

And sitting in your cube actively not trying hard on projects (for fear of not getting all the credit) is going to contribute to this big break somehow?

The more I think about it, the more I picture him working in a gas station, and his "ideas that keep getting shot down" have to do with re-arranging the soda in the cooler.

^ Oh, about six pages ago I told myself I wasn't coming back. But it's like picking at a scab, isn't it? :)

Not as rollicking as the moon landing hoax thread, though.

That's the trouble with threads like this, they're addictive. You have to come back and see what foolishness is being spouted.

<Moon hoax thread, eh? Off to that...>

Have you ever had a work situation, where, a boss thinks you are best off in your present position... ?

Yes.

I was a newspaper copy editor on the news desk (night shift) and I decided to apply for an open copy editing job in the features department (day shift). Under our union contract the job was supposed to go to the most qualified person for the post. I had done the exact same work a few years back and was already experienced in using the programs for editing and page design, making me the best qualified for the job.

The assistant managing editor told me during my so-called interview that frequent moves to different positions were hurting my "professional" career.

Right.

Next thing I know, he's hired a friend of his daughter who, as far as I could tell, had never worked at a newspaper in her life.

Thanks. I would say keep plugging away, and put in that extra, opportunity-snatching energy, when the moment comes again. Do all the right things, at the right time, in the right order, and get the fire in your eye, too.

With any luck, you're out of that situation now.

^ Oh, and pulling a Tonya Harding on the friend of the daughter would probably have helped as well.

In my case, if I actually get proof of all the shenangigans that has been going on behind my back, by my superiors, the blame for all the ructions shifts to them. I've taken the can for it, cos I'm so kindhearted.

Or you've proven that you can't or won't fight back, and make an easy target. Still haven't seen anything from you that suggests you should be doing better, though, other than saying so...

Yeah, 'coz 'they' are all out to get you.
