Squirrels like to scavenge for food in the back yard underneath the bird feeder. So I threw a strawberry at one and actually hit it. It was startled for a second, then saw the strawberry and immediately started eating it. The strawberry wasn't there a second ago. Shouldn't you wonder about where it came from?
