The birds and the squirrels use the birdbath in my yard all the time. I just rinse it out with the garden hose every other day.Since we have had all of this rain, one fun thing is watching the birds having baths in all the puddles. We don't have a bird bath and I was wondering if they are hard to maintain? Do any of you have them? Do the birds really use them? It is it hard to keep other animals from using them like squirrels?

That's really cool. We're too dry so we don't see dragonflies out here very often.I took a pleasant walk earlier and managed to get some nice pics of an orange dragonfly, a Needham's Skimmer (lilbellula needhami). I even captured the sun reflecting off the wings in the third pic. Males tend to be more red while females tend to be more orange, and there are color variations compared to a similar species (lilbellula auripennis). The black stripe also helps set it apart from the Orange Meadowhawk, which has black spots on the sides instead but otherwise looks similar.
