I can definitely appreciate any effort to protect endangered species, but at the same time... "only in California"A trio of judges in California said on Tuesday that bees could be legally classified as a type of fish as part of a ruling that gave added conservation protections to the endangered species.
"The issue presented here is whether the bumble bee, a terrestrial invertebrate, falls within the definition of fish," the judges wrote in their ruling. And, they concluded, it does.
Formerly, the problem for bee lovers — and lovers of all Californian terrestrial invertebrates — was down to the way protected animals had been classified in the state's laws.
While four bee species were classified as endangered in 2018, land invertebrates are not explicitly protected under the California Endangered Species Act, which protects endangered "native species or subspecies of a bird, mammal, fish, amphibian, reptile, or plant."

This is not a fun post, but I think it's one that people need to see.
Talia Fisher from All Seated in a Barn is at her monthly auction again, and she's posted a bunch of pictures of the horses there.

I'm honestly amazed some of these horses are even still alive.
I just find it so infuriating that people allow their horses to get in this kind of condition. OK, I understand stuff comes up and people can't or don't want to take care of their horses any more, but what I don't get is how they can just leave them to end up like this. Why the hell don't they just send it to a rescue like All Seated in Barn, or if they want to make some money, then sell it to someone who will hopefully take better care of it. I just can't mind around how they can just leave them to starve, and then dump them in the auctions like this to be sent to slaughter.
